All new Toshiba laptops ship from the factory with the ability to run the system recovery process from a hard disk partition, and with preinstalled software that can be used to record recovery media to blank discs. Toshiba recommends creating recovery media to ensure the ability to run a system recovery even if the hard disk recovery partition is damaged or deleted, or if the hard disk breaks. Reconditioned laptops may not include this recovery enabling software so may require that recovery media be purchased.

Recovery media can be ordered online. Click here to begin the order process. There is no charge for the software itself, for which customers already own licenses, and as of 10/1/10 the shipping and handling charges for delivery of recovery media in the US is $24.95 for DVD media or $34.95 for USB sticks.

the magic cut off year is 2007
and then magic zero key works, on Australia PCshttp://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/item...

The L100 has no magic 0.

if hdd i bad this fails
if Hdd replaced before today , this fails.
if hdd upgraded, this fails or cloned fails.
if the hdd was erased this fails.
i can go on....but you get the drift.

the magic 0 key may not work say on Asian PC version. only reading the manaul for your unstated county solves what YOU have.
or contact the matching web site for your country'
here is the magic hub page i flat refuse read on 100s of countries.

finding the hub page is not easy
    but here.http://www.toshiba.co.jp/worldwide/regio...

this is the correct starting point and for sure not USA we dont have L200s ok>

    ok that works
    so go there first
    click your country
    click your language
    then click YOUR L200-nnnn model.
the nnnn ,also needs to be correct. or get the wrong book,
ok?????? read the chapter on recovery
the USA PCs has 3 ways to recover
    factory CD
    home made CD-r
and magic 0 key (partition way)
some models do not have magic 0 , OK?

power on, while holding 0 zero key depress
    and bingo, or not.
if not the hDD is corrupted or never had this feature. no matter what same cure.
buy new hdd and OS or if hdd tests, new OS.

I am not reading 100 alien manuals to find out.

First restart your Toshiba laptop. Press either "F1," "0," or "F8" to be taken to your computer's hard drive utility screen. The key command differs depending on the model Toshiba computer that you own.

Select "Restore Original Factory Image" from the list of options in System Recovery. Verify that you want to continue the process by clicking "Yes," then click "Next".

Restart the Toshiba laptop once the factory restore process has been completed. You will be prompted to enter information such as the date, time and language preferences.

Feel free get the reliable technical help at http://www.vtechsquad.com/toshiba-support/ for troubleshoot all kind of Toshiba PC(laptop and desktop).

Fn key not working in toshipa laptop its model is satellite a505

Hello, Dody.

Give this a try: lift the key slightly, but enough to spray compressed air underneath. There may be debris under the key. Hopefully, that will resolve your problem.

If not, you may need to replace the keyboard.
