I got this new camera for xmas; the fugifilm finepix z and i cant figure out how to upload pictures to facebook. when i plug the cord into my computer and into my camera in the corner it says USB and it doesn't do anything else on the camera or on my computer. do i need to upload a certain software on my computer or what do i need to do?

Consider NOT using the USB cord. Your computer has a USB port so it can use a card reader.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader connected via USB. This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

buy a USB card reader that fits your camera's Card and use that instead to download your pictures. There are Multicard readers Available or ones that accept your card and plug right into USB.

When your son uninstalled the program, the drivers for your camera went with it. You could start using a card reader to download your pics...it's much easier and foolproof.

Goto any radio shack and get a external memory card reader this will allow you to get your pictures if the camera or cable is defective.

Pop the card in the camera, then use the camera's menu to format the card, if it formats you should be good to go.

This could be a faulty cable. Windows Moviemaker is part of XP and should deteck the camera. Can you beg or borrow a cable to check this out?
