I need step by step instructions on how to change a brake lever on a 2006 street bob
Unless they've changed something that I'm not aware of, the brake lever is not difficult to change out. Since the throttle grip has all sorts of wiring in it, you don't want to mess with it unless you have to. Loosen the two clamp bolts that hold the front master cylinder onto the handlebars and slide the unit up the bars as far as you can. There will be a pivot pin with an E-clip on the bottom side. Take the E-clip off and slide the pin up and out. Work the handle out of the master cylinder assembly. There is another pivot piece inside the lever where the plunger of the master cylinder goes into it. One side is shallow while the other side is deep, The plunger goes in the deep side so make sure you put it in the new lever the same way it came out of the old one. Once you have the new lever installed, move the master cylinder back against the throttle assembly housing. The front brake light switch is in the front of the throttle grip assembly. If you do not get the master cylinder back against the house tightly, the brake light will stay on all the time. Check for proper operation of the brake light and front brakes.
Again, I hope I've given you good information as I work on bikes made prior to the year 2000. Harley usually does not change things like this too often though. Good Luck.
