Whenever I put in NHL 08 for PS3 my picture goes fuzzy and wont go back until I reset the system. I tried playing with the display settings but nothing helps.
Your TV does not have the same requirements as the Sony PS3 Console. The PS3 Uses Standard Def. and High Def. Blu-Ray Display. You need Blu-Ray enabled on your Television. Hope this helped.

Make sure the HDMI cable is connected to the HDMI OUT port on the
back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Connect the other end of the HDMI
cable into the HDMI Input port of the TV or display monitor.
While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the
front of the system), hold down the
touch-sensitive power button on the front of the system until the system
goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from:
red light --> green light --> then back to red light). This
will ensure that you have held down the power button long enough to
reset the Video Output Settings.
Turn on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and once the system finishes powering
up, the Video Output Settings will automatically reset to the standard
resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your
TV/monitor).
1. Turn
off the PS3 so it only shows a red light. You can hold the power button
on the front until it goes into standby. To be sure, flick the power
switch on the back of the Play Station 3 off and then back on.
2.
Make sure your Play Station 3 is connected to your regular TV (not
HDTV) with the standard video cables.
3. Press and hold the power
button until the screen "flickers" and then immediately release. This
should reset the video settings.
4. Wait a few seconds, and the
Play Station 3 (PS3) logo should appear.
If this does not resolve
the problem, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the PS3 so it only
shows a red light. You can hold the power button on the front until it
goes into standby. To be sure, flick the power switch on the back of the
Play Station 3 off and then back on.
2. Make sure your Play
Station 3 is connected to your regular TV (not HDTV) with the standard
video cables.
3. Press and hold the power button on the front
until the Play Station 3 beeps and then turns off again. This should
reset the video for you and you can turn it back on after this.
just bought nhl 10 a couple days ago and started playing 'Be a GM' 24 hours later, when i go to play it the game freezes a lot and i can only play my ahl team but not my team only the opponent team. when i try to put someone on the trading block it also freezes. can anyone give me some advive?
Your display needs to be reset, Turn the ps3 off. Then turn the ps3 back on but continue to press the power button until you hear the beeps then it should work fine :)
Yeah try the lens cleaner for a blue ray drive. If you got warranty use it, if your outside of warranty the repairs are 149usd.
The lens cleaner might not fix it, and the drive should work for years. so you might have a faulty drive. best to call in warranty service probably will get the ps3 replaced.

you could try resetting the grapics by holding down the power button until you hear 2 - 3 beeps. This may or may not help, it will set the video display back to default,
Hey i just posted i have the same problem as you do but then I checked the SONY PS3 website and it solved my problem. Try resetting your video output. I'll paste what it says on the PS3 website but if that doesn't solve your problem go to the website. They have a bunch of troubleshooting solutions for this problem...
If while manually changing the Video Output Settings, the screen
remains blank for more than 30 seconds, you may need to perform the
following steps to reset the Video Output Settings.
Make sure the Component AV Cable is connected to the [AV MULTI-OUT] port on the back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system.
Connect the other end of the Component AV Cable into the video and audio RCA jacks of the TV or display monitor.
While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the
front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive On/Off button on
the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again .
(So the light cycle would go from: red light to --> green light
--> then back to red light) This will ensure that you have held
down the On/Off button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.
Turn ON the PLAYSTATION 3 and once the system finishes powering up,
the Video Output Settings will automatically be reset to the standard
resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your
TV/monitor).
