Touchpad/mouse problem I recently bought an Inspiron 1525. Didn't much like the touchpad, so I got a Dell 2-button mouse (with wheel). The mouse didn't work too well until I disabled the touchpad (went to control panel, mouse, disable touchpad, checked box to have touchpad disabled whenever mouse plugged in). Then it worked great, until the computer figured out what I had done. Next time I turned it on, the touchpad was re-enabled even when mouse was plugged in. When I went back to check the box again, I found that the "disable" choice for the touchpad was now gray, couldn't be clicked. Not to be outsmarted by the evil machine, I found I could access the disable function through the touchpad icon on the lower right of the screen, so I checked the box again. But the computer outsmarted me! Next time I turned it on, the touchpad was enabled, and the icon had disappeared! Help! Can this machine be tamed?

My problem with the touchpad disappeared after the computer installed an automatic update. Now whenever I plug in my mouse, the touchpad inactivates.

I just purchased the Inspiron 1525 for over two months now and have been using a Microsoft wireless mouse. Both the touchpad and the mouse worked fine until last week when the touchpad freezed and I could not get the cursor to move with the touchpad, (the two buttons works) . The wireless mouse still works ok. I am wondering on how to get the touchpad to work or if this is a defect, i like to send back to dell while it's still under warranty. Help!!!

when using the touchpad - the touchpad will highlight all and not let go. Very annoying - how can you fix this?

Yes, same laptop and same problem. I don't want to have to disable the mouse pad everytime I shut down my computer.

    Hi,

I had the same problem, contacted Dell and they had me download the following driver: http://support.dell.com/support/download...

I then had the touch pad icon on the right hand side of the task bar, clicked on it, selected touch pad, and unclicked the click options. Worked great ,so far.

I was having the same problem. I have no problems with the mouse pad most of the time. But my mother in law was using the computer and was trying to type something and it kept deleting what she was typing cuz her thumbs kept hitting the pad. She's used to using a regular keyboard not a laptop. I hooked up an external mouse but the same thing kept happening and I couldn't figure out how to lock the touchpad till I saw this post. I tried the previous solutions and nothing. But this actually worked!!!! I had tried going to the Control Panel under Mouse and the disable button was gray and wouldn't let me click on it. After downloading the driver above it gave me a brand new looking settings box for the mouse and even added a quick link to the bottom of my screen. THANKS FOR THIS LINK!!!!

If there is no Touchpad icon in your systray:

Go to:

Start/ Control panel/System

On the upper-left: Device Manager

Select Mice and other pointing stick devices

Highlight "Dell Touchpad" and either right click and uninstall, or use the uninstall icon at the top.

Restart your machine. The driver will automatically re-install on boot up.

You should then have a Dell Touchpad icon in your tray, click it and choose:

"Device Select"

Check the: "Disable Touchad/Pointing stick when external USB mouse is present."

My touchpad is erractic and the mouse buttons don't work.

Absolutely! You should have changed the mouse and keypad first. That's a problem with many Dell laptops. Mine included.

I have a dell inspiron 1525 laptop and my cursor jumps when im typing e-mails

If your hands are really warm they don't even need to touch the touchpad in order to move the cursor. You can go into "device manager" and disable the touchpad and just use a wireless mouse instead.

My cursor on my Dell inspiron 1525 laptop is stuck in the middle of my screen the touch pad isn't working either I was wondering how i could fix this

Try an external mouse. You might have to turn off the touchpad in BIOS (F2 key on boot will get you into setup). Look for Mouse/Touchpad under 'Post Behavior' or perhaps elsewhere (differently displayed in various BIOS setups).

1525 Right Touchpad Button Problem

It sounds like the switch on the button has failed.

Go to control panel, mouse and make sure the right click hasn't been disabled if no change, replace the palmrest.

The touchpad is part of the palmrest assembly and the entire palmrest will need to be replaced They are available on EBay for around $25

Must disable touchpad

Is the problem being caused by your palm hitting the surface of the touchpad? This happens with many people. There is a setting for the touchpad which will let you set how sensitive the touchpad is, thereby eliminating your problem.

Dell Cursor Typing Blinking Problem

this is because you must deactivate your touchpad. you can do this by holding the Fn key and pressing the F* key that shows a picture of a touchpad in the same color as the Fn.
or you can go to control panel and turn it off in the mouse settings. but just attaching a mouse will allow the touchpad to stay active and therefore still be sensitive enough for your hand to "tap" th cursor.;
Good luck and pls rank this response! :D
