This has happened to me, but i didn't have all the parts on correctly. if the 'case' is not put back on properly and the little nib flush it will not start. it should look exactly like your picture. sounds odd that there would be a problem. i have 3 of them LOVE THEM, (and i have other juicers as well) that we use as a family. I would NOT trade any of them I love them that much. In fact the one my parents bought 33 years ago I still have and it still works ;-) Don't give up, it's an excellent juicer!
Unplug your Acme 6001 Juicer. Carry it to a countertop near your kitchen sink.
Run the pieces through the rinse cycle in your dishwasher or rinse under running tap water by hand. Air or wipe dry the pieces.
Wipe the base with a slightly soapy cloth. Rinse with a damp cloth and wipe dry. Reassemble your juicer by returning the pieces to the base in reverse order.
