Epson Stylus SX215 the ink cartridge holder won't move into position so I can change a cartridge

pressing the stop button just stops the printing
you have to open the unit to get the cartridges to move to the removal position

Open the front cover and the cartridge holder will move to the middle so that you can just pull it out s35

press the index sheet button and the scan button at the same time, you then get setup menu. use" >" to select "change ink cartridge". the ink cartridge will move to the opening position. lift the grey plastic clip at the back, and it will open towards you. then they just pull out

Let it there where it has arrived by itself, unplug the printer from the mains, gently but firmly move the carrier to the correct position, change the ink cartridge and close everything.
When the printer will be plugged in and started the carriage will return to its normal position.

press: INDEX SHEET and SCAN both at the same time, use two fingers if possible.
Your epson monitor Screen should show: NOZZLE CHECK and below that a left and right arrow with 1/6 between them. using the right hand arrow key just below the monitor, scroll through to item 4. then press the green start key to get the carriage ink holder to move into change position.proceed .

#1 Wait until you are out of ink. The warning light and ink-low notifications come on well before the ink cartridge is empty, and even if it runs out of ink in the middle of a print, you can replace it then and finish the print with no problem.
#2 Lift the lid of your Epson inkjet printer to expose the ink cartridge replacement button. Make sure you have plenty of light so you can see what you are doing.
#3 Press the ink cartridge replacement button. This will loosen the empty ink cartridges so they can be pulled up and out.
#4 Fill the empty cartridge at an ink-refilling location, or buy a new ink cartridge to replace the empty one.
#5 Insert the new or refilled ink cartridge into the holder with the same orientation as the previous one.
#6 Press the cartridge replacement button to charge the system and close the printer cover. Charging takes about one minute

The ink cartridges are all separate so you press the cancel button (with no jobs pending) to bring the cartridge holder in to the right place open the holder remove the cartridge and then replace it, let the printer purge the cartridge then your good to go
