usually it is the thermocouple. easy to replace. it the part that the pilot lite heats so that the gas valve will allow the gas to flow. common issue. most hardware store has the part. and the part is pretty universal. youtube has a few good videos. appliance parts stores also stock item. good luck.
I would call home depot and ask how they handle their warranty with Rheem. Contact your builder and get the information of the plumier that installed the unit he should be able to give you the pluming supplier where he purchased the heater.
Call the manufacturer phone # that is printed on the water heater. You probably have the model that requires a retrofit burner with reset button to be installed to fix this issue. You will also have to clean out the bottom screen filter below the burner when you change it out. They will need the model # & serial # to check if yours needs this. Douglas
After it is stored for the 2 weeks, do you turn water on to it, then bleed out any air through the taps before lighting it? If not try that and see what happens and let me know if any different.
you will have to find a supplier that sell them, they don't have a web site but call to your local plumbing supply house and see if they might know who sells the item, that would be your starting point,, good luck
