Model # GSS22WGPH WW Side by Side w/water and ice diispenser. The refrigerator side is warming up to 60 degrees. The freezer side is showing frost on the back wall and the food was defrosting. The ice maker was totally full and we emptied all of the ice and most of the food out, and the freezer is cooling down. But the refrigerator side is continuing to warm up. What can we check for? Thank you, Cindy

Freezer is frosting and refrigerator is warm.

As far as your freezer frosting up, sounds like a door seal problem, run your fingers along the seam of the door seal, there should be no splits/holes in the seal.
As far as the refrigerator either there is a secondary fan motor, or there is a obstruction blocking the air movement, if the freezer has a bad seal, its suspect ice is still building up.

Inside my side by side freezer side (hss25gfta ww)

The ice maker water inlet valve has failed allowing water to pass when it is not supposed to pass. The water valve is item 800 of this link. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5203104&diagram_id=24933031#d24933031

Changing the water valve most always returns the ice maker operation back to normal.

Top portion offreezer is warm bottom is cold

Sounds like the defrost heater is bad . Part number WR51X10055 . You will need to remove the 2 or 4 screws , holding the lower portion of the inside rear freezer panel . The heater , is attached to the bottom of the coils , held on by 2 screws . You should also replace the defrost thermostat , Part number WR50X10068 . This is the 1 " cylinder , clipped to the top of the coils , with a blue and pink wire attached to it . This bimetal (defrost thermostat) , cuts the heater off , when/if the temp behind the panel gets to 140 degrees , therefore , keeping the food from defrosting .

Feezer does not make ice. there is cold water. Installed new filter

Check the temp inside the freezer with a thermometer. It should be between -10 and 0 degrees. The ice maker has a thermostat that cuts it off once the temp gets above 5 to 8 degrees. (According to the model) If your freezer is warm, check the inside back panel of the freezer. If it has ice or frost on it you have a defrost problem. This will have to be repaired before the ice maker will work. If you have ice or frost, your freezer will also continue to warm up until your fresh food section gets real warm.

Freezer at 21 degrees , refer at 44 degrees, will not get any colder.

If your model number is the Profile/Artica PSS26 model the most likely reason for this is a burned out defrost heater. Look into back of the freezer and tell me if a layer of frost is building up on the rear wall of the freezer compartment. If yes then unplug and remove the rear panel in the back of the freezer to expose the evaporator coil. If frosted over then you need to defrost with a hair dryer or leave a bucket of hot water in the freezer compartment until the ice melts away. Sometimes the defrost drain is frozen over and then the beginning of the frost becomes heavy quickly and temperatures begin to increase in both sides of your side by side. Lately I seem to be here and ge no response from anyone. I want you to a the least let me know if you need my help to resolve this. Sometimes the main control board causes this but not as likely as the defrost thermostat and defrost heater. Sea Breeze

The refrigerator temperature ins 50 and the freezer is 15. Is this the appropriate temperature? The butter is soft at this temperature

the fridge should not be above 40 degrees and the freezer not above 30. check back wall of freezer for frost. if so, coils are iced up and need to be defrosted. either take off back wall of freezer and melt ice with warm water or hair dryer, or unplug unit and let it set with doors open for a day. then clean up the water.

FRESH FOOD COMPARTMENT TOO WARM

it could be a defrost heater problem . the heating cycle is not defrosting the ice that is why your having frost build up. the heater could be damaged, thermosdisc damaged, electronic timer module damaged.try thawing it up by unpluging it for a day or two until there is no more water dripping at the back then try it again, im sure the refrigerator section would cool again for a week or two before it wouyld go back to the same problem. dont forget to bring back the setting to 5 for freezer and 35 for refrigerator in order for the thermostat to work.

Fridge not staying cold

Solo, firt make sure you do not have a build up of frost on the freezer inside panel. This would indicate a defrost problem. Your post states that the cooling problem is intermitant which leads me to believe that the automatic damper is at fault. It could have a build up of ice on it which is causing it to bind, or it could just be going bad. Your model does have the manual defrost timer which could be sticking at times, that is why I suggest checking the back freezer panel for frost buildup. Catriver..post back.
