Rechargeable batteries have a limited life determined by how many times they've been discharged & recharged and how old they are. On the charger there are lights and a chart to let you know what's going on with your battery. If it indicated the battery is defective, the charger won't even try to charge the battery and it needs to be replaced. If it goes through a recharge cycle and then lasts for a couple minutes or not at all the battery is used up and needs to be replaced. If none of the lights on your charger are working the problem may be the charger. The only way to test that is to have someone else with an LXT kit try to recharge your battery.

Does the chair have to be power on to charge. We purchased the chair used and put brand new batteries in it. It charged overnight but still does not I have a full charge.

have the charger charge rate checked as the charger may not be working to standard voltage for charging
you can do that by connecting a multimeter meter across the battery terminals and turning on the charger
the voltage should go from 12 volts to 14.5 volts indicating a charge is being put into the batteries
if you don't get that increase when turning the charger on , then there is something wrong in
battery connection, charger
wiring
fuse

Does the battery have to go in a charger for charging

lila, yes you have to put the battery on the charger to charge the battery, if not the charger wont charge anything, after you put the battery on the charger hold, before that don't forget to equalize the pin charge with the battery there was a marking or emboss note negative pole and positive pole for the battery fit on it charge, then you can go for the electric plug. For additional note there is light indicator green for full battery, orange for the half battery energy and the last one is red light blink for the on going charge the battery. i hope it help, remember safety first.

Makita battery charger wont charge

If both lights on the charger are flashing it is indicating you have a bad battery and the charger will not charge the battery. The charger has circuitry that tests the battery and if it 'thinks' the battery is defective it will not attempt to charge it. The only way to verify whether it's the battery or charger is to try charging your battery on another charger or try charging another battery on your charger. Most of the time it's a bad battery.

Problem with mobility scooter

Take the batteries down to a battery shop and have them load tested. Make absolutely sure they are DEEP CYCLE batteries. My 35a\h batteries put out 480 cranking amps. The battery shop can also test your charger. I have two chargers for my scooter the 4amp charger that came built into the chair, and a really nice three stage 5amp external charger. My scooters batteries have two 50amp quick disconnect connectors. I made up an external harness for the 5amp charger with the same connectors. I can now charge up my batteries out of the scooter. They say my built in charger is a 4amp charger, its slow in comparison to the 5amp charger. Batteries are expensive, regular chargers charge at one rate, full speed and can overcharge a battery. A three stage charger is by far way batter on your batteries. When you start to charge a depleted battery it put out full 5amps but as the battery nears being charged the charger backs off the amperage. When the battery is fully charged the charger goes into float mode and put out just enough amperage to maintain the charge. When i'm not using my scooter i keep the batteries connected to this charger. Deep cycle glass mat batteries don't stay charged very long when just sitting around. In about six months a dead battery will sulfate to the point where it will no longer take a charge. That happened to me once and cost me $200, never again will this happen to me. Battery shops are great places they have the instruments to tell you everything you need to know about the batteries. The batteries are the heart of your scooter unless you know there condition all kinds of strange things can happen. To make sure my batteries were good i have them checked against a known good set of batteries. BTW- Cranking amp is measured by putting a load on battery and increasing that load until the voltage falls off. At the point just before that voltage drop they measure the amperage output, that is you're cranking amps

Battery in Jeep Grand Cherokee dead this am and less than 1 year old. I have a Everstart 100 battery charger plugged in and on the car. How long does it take to charge the battery. The charger is plugged...

How many amps does this charger put out????
A small trickle charger will take forever to fully recharge a dead battery, you'll need to have a battery charger that can put out enough amps to properly charge a dead battery. To clarify, the chargers sold at Sears, the large square types on wheels are the best for charging dead batteries and they also have an amp meter telling you how much the battery is accepting. After you charge your battery, you should be around 12.5 volts to 12.7 volts. DO NOT OVER CHARGE!!!

My camcorder doesnt charge up properly, ive purchased a new batteery and charges a bit but doesnt charge to full, light keeps flashing to say somethings wrong. I put it on the pc and it seems to charge.

Is the charging of the battery part of the camera or is it a separate charger? Meaning you remove the battery from the camera and install it into the charger to charge. Of course, if the charge is not full when both batteries have been on the charger, then the charger is at fault. Also, considering that you have also put a new battery on the same charger and the problem is still the same, then the charger is (again) at fault. You can try and send the charger to the retailer for inspection or, better still, take the whole camera and get it checked. Bad batteries or charger can cause more trouble to both the batteries or the camera.

Motorola CP040 charging time

The rapid rate charger WPLN41__ will typically charge a battery in 90-120 minutes. Your battery should be depleted or nearly depleted when you place it in the charging stand. Be certain your radio is always turned off, when charging an attached battery. The NiMH battery will generally go 12-16 hours on a charge when new. If you work an eight hour shift, you might see if the radio will go 2 days on a charge. Later as the battery ages, you will need to charge it nightly. (Think of putting it in the charger as putting it to bed at night.)

Rapid charging is necessary on NiMH and Li-Ion batteries. They require a "hotter" charger, a fast rate, to completely charge the battery. It will not harm this chemistry of battery. It is safe to leave the battery on the charger overnight, or for a weekend. We would not recommend leaving the battery on the charger longer periods of time, as that will age the battery and reduce its life.

(Sidenote: Frequent rapid charging will however reduce the life of a NiCD battery.)

Batteries don't charge. I have a new battery, and neither of the old or new batteries work in the charger. I get flashing lights only, sometimes red, sometimes green, but in the end, the battery isn't...

Dust getting in the charger is a problem, Try blowing it out with a moisture-free dust remover, found at most any store. Green flashing means improper power, due to dust or power from the outlet, try a differant wall outlet. Red flashing means the charger or battery is to hot and must cool down before it will charge. The charger will not charge a battery if the lights are flashing. Solid Red light means it is charging and solid green light means it is charged. Plug the charger in first before putting the battery on the charger. If the charger has been droped or hit the floor the coil inside could have broke loose and dammaged the charger requiring it to be replaced.

Battery Charger Olympus li-40c

I had this problem a few weeks ago (i.e. flashing red LED). All I did was remove the power plug from the charging unit, turned it around 180 degrees, then plugged it back into the charging unit. Red LED came on steady & the battery (which is the one that came with the camera) recharged as normal.
