I have 20MC4306. Recently when you turn it off it turns itself back on. Also when you turn it on shuts off after 2 seconds. Tried putting in a video vhs then press play and wait few seconds and hit stop. TV stays on most of the time. After trying different outlets, holding plug and was going to plug it in a surge protector the other day when it turns itself on without being plugged in. Ghosts????

Sounds like a battery issue - does it charge correctly when plugged in?

If you think the problem is the security system. This is for programming with no keys.
Use a scan tool to verify that the numkeys pid value is less than 8.
Use a scan tool to verify that the sparekey pid value is enable or yes.
Insert either the remaing key or a new cut key and turn to run.
Use the sacan tool to navigate to pats system and then choose security access. The scan will count to 10 minutes before the model will allow you in, once in, choose ignition key codes erase.
Did connect scan tool and turn key off. Inset key and turn to run for 3 seconds, then turn the key off and remove. Insert second second key and turn to run for three seconds, then turn key to off and remove.

set has a self diagnostic---after set does shut down press and hold MENU AND DEVICE(INPUT) buttons on front of set for 5 seconds----if 2 blinks, a pause and 2 more blinks: this is short protection error code---The set does use 2 Stk394-250 and each is protected by a pico fuse in the power supply---if either fuse is blown the set will shut down(it detects no voltage or missing voltage;) It is not uncommon for a shorted IC to cause this problem; if you locate the STK's look carefully at the resistors around them---if any are discolored or burnt---you have found your problem.

Hi, What you have to do is shut down the machine, pull the CMOS battery(CR2032) out and out and put your jumper on pins 1-2 from 2-3. Wait 30 seconds and put the battery back in. After installing the battery, put your jumper back to pins 2-3 from 1-2. This should work.

If it starts & runs for a few seconds with gas down carb, obviously you have a fuel delivery problem, as in fuel filter plugged, fuel pump, or perhaps you got some bad gas recently?

Might be the prolem with your SMPS not providing proper o/p voltage, change SMPS it will works

sorry mate i cant fix it but my buddy has a problem with his also
his ps3 freezes even in the menu screen and during video chat it shuts off

if i take out the ram it does not shut off it is a problem with the ram

I would suggest that you guys turn the unit off when this happens, unplug the unit for 30 seconds, plug it back in, and see if this helps. If this does not solve your problem, you should call 1-800-448-2244, so a service center in your local area can be found for further assistance.

Don't listen to dnbull. i looked at the PSP sites, and apperantly that kind of thing will only happen if it got screwed because you shut of power while it was loading, downloading, saving etc. and it will take about 2-4 hours of time for the data to restart. Put in on a charger and leave it on for a long time and it should restart. you might not have all your files though... sorry...:(
