Maytag Bravos 7.0 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jan 03, 2011

Hi, My maytag bravos dryer is one year and 2 months old. Suddenly it has stopped drying the clothes, it takes forever to dry a load and clothes are very warm and wet, lots of steam in the dryer, also the lint screen is empty. We checked the lint traps, vents, exhausts, etc all are clear and clean. My husband even took his gas powered blower and blew it through the vent and outside I could feel the air coming through. When the dryer is on there is no air coming out the outside vent. We went a step further and turned on the dryer with it not hooked up to the vent and no air comes out of the back of the dryer where the vent is supposed to be hooked into - it just feels a bit warm. I took apart the inside dryer lint trap last night and put a vacuum hose down there and cleaned it out really well. I am at a loss of what to do, it runs fine just doesn't dry anything and I think there is something clogging it, is there another step I am missing or something else we can do? It kills me that it is only one year old and of course 2 months out of warranty. Thank you, Kristy

Sounds like the exhaust fan is not working. There's an electric blower at the back of the unit that forces air out through the exhaust vent. Unplug the unit, pull the vent off the back, and see if you can reach in and touch the fan blades and make them move. If it won't move something is probably caught in there. You may need to take off the back of the unit and remove the housing cover to the fan assembly in order to really tell what's going on, but it sounds like your fan has an obstruction. It could also be that the fan motor is fried but that seems less likely. Remember to have the unit unplugged, there's some dangerous voltage inside.

I know this is old but maybe someone is pulling up these old Blogs..I had this issue for months just to find out the belt had come off of the blower..stop letting them tell you your air duct is blocked..they use that to blow you off the first time til your warranty is out..Hope this helps someone..

My Maytag Bravo dryer adds extra minutes to cycles. If I set it for normal or bulky it will run for some time and when I check to see if it's done it still has over an hour left on it, more than the...

Your dryer has a moisture sensor, if it senses that the clothes aren't dry enough it will extend the cycle. A couple easy things to check:

1. Be sure the spin cycle on your washing machine is working properly. If the clothes are too wet when you add them to the dryer your dryer will need to add more time to get the clothes dry

2. Be sure your lint filter is cleaned after each load, and have your dryer exhaust vent cleaned- it could be clogged.

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

Hi, sounds like a plugged vent. Pull the dryer out from the wall and disconnect the vent.Clean out any lint and make sure you have good airflow to the outside.

Dryer gets hot but wont dry clothes

Do you know if the dryer vent is free of obstructions?Check outside where the dryer vents outside ,and see if the air is weak or flowing freely. If it is not clogged the air should be pretty strong from the vent outside. If it has blockage it will definitly take longer to dry your clothes.

Maytag Bravos Dryer (1 mo. old) timer does not change from start

Maytag Bravos 400 Series Dryer purchased August 2009 - November 2009 required repair as I also experience the timer readjusting itself to excessive extended drying time when clothing was bone dry and hot. Sometimes extended to 1 hour 40 minutes! Serviceman stated problem was the Sensors in the dryer. Part number 8577274 Thermister and "Old Ohmed out open" whatever that means as listed on my repair ticket. Have not had that particular problem since. Make sure your dryer vents from dryer to outside are clean and clear of lint. Will help immensely. I have many other issues with this dryer it has been down FOUR times in 9 months. Fighting with Maytag to replace this lemon!

Hello: I have a Maytag, do not know model # as I inherited the 5 year old model when I purchased a condo and it is now 7 years old. The front of it states Maytag - Dependable Use, Heavy Dtuty - Large...

I ALWAYS START WITH VENTING WHEN CALLED WITH LONG DRYING TIMES BUT I HAVE SEEN WHERE ONLY HALF OF THE HEATING ELEMENT IS WORKING, WHICH IS PRETTY RARE. A NORMAL LOAD WOULD BE WHATEVER THE WASHER HAD IN IT WHICH WOULD BE LOOSLY FILLED TO THE TOP ROW OF HOLES IN THE WASHER TUB. THE ONLY OTHER QUESTION I WOULD ASK IS IF THE WASHER SEEMS TO BE SPINNING OUT PROPERLY AND IF THE CLOTHES ARE GOING INTO THE DRYER TOO WET.
