I bought a garmin gps nuvi 205 off my brother in florida.i was staying there for a few mounts.my girlfriend set a password so the people we was living with couldnt steel it.becuse we had stuff coming up missing.the problem is,we moved back to kentucky,and i cant get it unlocked for anything.im so mad at her.is there anyway i can get it unlocked.beacuse i do not know my way around up here?"

Every time the 205W is powered on, you must enter the PIN, or drive to your security location you set up when the PUN was first entered..

Doesn't matter what the serial number is, you have to pay for updates unless you bought the lifetime map update package. Try going to Garmin.com

You can call the guy you purchased your Garmin univ 205 from and unlock the PIN and change it from the location he set the PIN at.

Ask the person from whom you purchased this unit (it does NOT come locked from the factory) what the PIN is. If he/she will not provide the code, ask for a refund. You will NOT be able to use this unit without the correct PIN.

Whenever these devices start acting up, I recommend performing a hard reset of your Gamin Nuvi 205. Also, use Garmin's WebUpdater service to make sure you have the latest software on your device.

This device should find a signal nearly anywhere it is used. The further away from the earth's equator it is used will increase signal lock or "fix" time though. You should be able to get a fix by bringing the unit into an open space (few / low trees, buildings, etc.) and leave on for up to 20 minutes. The GPS should provide an accurate location in this amount of time and should be able to fix in a moment or so from that point on.
