My laptop doesnot come back from hybernation. I have xp on my Toshiba laptop.

Part of the problem is the hybernate function it causes windows to become unstable and eventually will corrupt the windows files making vista unusuable. I strongly suggest the hybernate mode be disabled and you make a backup recovery disc just in case windows crashes. By following what I have recommended and shut down windows when not in use will make a big difference in stability.

I would disable the hybernate mode, it takes a lot of hard disc space and is unstable. In rare cases it will corrupt windows forcing a fresh install.

Turn the PC on, when it is booting up, keep hitting "F8" until windows boot options come up, choose "Safe Mode" and then once it boots into safe mode fully, go to the start menu and choose shut down. After it shuts down, turn it back on and it should go back into normal mode. From now on, don't use Hibernate, its buggy and has been since XP.

You might need to do a system restore from an earlier time from tools menue in accessories/or use a recovery cd/or format your HD

Or.. Check to See if the Lid Switch is Stuck Down... Some laptops have alittle Movable plastic pin that depresses when the lid is closed to turn the screen off... this can sometimes get stuck down to the board button.. causing the symptoms youre experiencing

unplug the laptop, remove the battery, wait 15seconds, put the battery back, plug it back in.

If it doesnt work after this.

this sounds like power settings options.

what i can suggest now is that......................

go to the Power Options in the Control Panel and do the following.

• first uncheck the hibernate option on the hibernate tab
• use your computer and see if the problem re-appears, go to the control panel and on the power option, select Never to all options when using battery or ac power.
