I have a ASUS RT N10 Wi-Fi Router. I connected the wi-fi Router to my Desktop after-which I am not able to access the Internet. If I connect my desktop directly to my ADSL Modem, I am able to connect to the Internet but not possible through wi-fi router. Do I need to change the WI-FI Router settings for this

Check to see if you can plug the wan port to your adsl modem and then plug your pc to the router. on ADSL, some ISPs will record your mac address to avoid sharing. Just see I your router supports cloning your mac. All you do is login to your router from your pc, and it should be under your Wan settings. Use DHCP unless specified otherwise, and ensure to enter any pptp login info if your ISP provided any.

SOURCE: Router Password forgotten

Pam, there is no way to retrieve just the password. You have to reset/reconfigure the router. Have you done router setups before? If not, I suggest you get someone to help you. If you want to try anyway, then have the printed manual next to you as you step through the sequence. Make sure you connect a PC to the router using an ethernet cable & confirm that the PC connects to the router. Admin is the user id. The factory default password is often "password" or "admin", but check on the manufacturer's site to be sure. Let me know if you have questions about any part of this.

To connect your computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh network list, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connect to your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Key before allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This Network Key is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used to configure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way to setup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrase that was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router. http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_address

Wireless router configuration

If you don't already have a wireless network, you can use an AirPort base station to create one. To configure an AirPort base station, you connect the Ethernet connection to the WAN port on the base station. In turn, the base station creates a Wi-Fi (wireless) connection to the Internet. Consult the documentation for your AirPort base station for more information on how to set up your wireless connection. Once you have a Wi-Fi network available, use these steps to tell your Mac to join it:
  1. Click the Wi-Fi menu icon airport_symbol.png and select your Wi-Fi network from the list of available networks.
  2. If prompted, enter the password for your Wi-Fi network.
  3. Check "Remember this network" to have your Mac automatically join your home network.

I have the ASUS T101 how do I get internet access without WIFI. Is there an internet card I can get?

Hi,
Most desktop computers do not have Wi-Fi capabilities. If you wish to connect it to Wi-fi, you can use a USB Wi-fi LAN Card, which can be connected to any USB port of the PC and can be used to recieve wi-fi signals/ data. Note that PCI Wi-fi LAN Cards are also available, which are internal and added to PCI Port of the PC.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

I purchased a new IPOD and I can not access the wifi from my Linksys wireless router.. I reset my Linksys router to try to solve this problem. And at first when the light was amber I was able to have...

Resolution If you know there is a nearby Wi-Fi network, but you are unable to locate it on the Settings > Wi-Fi screen:
  • Move closer to the Wi-Fi router or hotspot.
  • If you are using a personal Wi-Fi network, verify the Wi-Fi router is connected to power and turned on.
  • Wi-Fi networks configured as "closed" or "private" do not broadcast the network name to Wi-Fi devices.
    • Join a "closed" or "private" network by tapping Settings > Wi-Fi > Other and entering the Wi-Fi network name, security, and password.
After joining a Wi-Fi network, if you notice the signal strength is low or intermittent
  • Move closer to the Wi-Fi router or hotspot.
  • Check for any sources of potential interference.
  • Remove any cases or attachments on your device that could interfere with a Wi-Fi signal.
If you are unable to access the Internet while connected
  • If you are using a commercial Wi-Fi network that requires a special login or subscription, see this article for more information.
  • If you are in a location with multiple Wi-Fi networks, verify that you are selecting the correct network.
  • Verify that the Wi-Fi network settings are correct:
    • Tap Settings > Wi-Fi.
    • Locate the Wi-Fi network you are currently using and tap ts1398_2.jpg
      blank.gif
  • You can configure network-specific settings, including IP address, DNS, and Search Domain settings.
  • Use "Forget this Network" to reset settings for this particular Wi-Fi network, including the password. This is also useful if you identify a network issue and want to prevent the device from automatically using this network in the future.
  • Use "Renew Lease" to acquire new IP address, DNS, and Search Domain information from the Wi-Fi network.
  • Note: If the Wi-Fi network uses MAC address filtering, you will need to add the MAC address to the access list for the Wi-Fi router. The MAC address for your device is listed as the Wi-Fi Address in Settings > General > About.
If you are still unable to join a Wi-Fi network, or are unable to access the Internet while connected, try the following
  • Restart the device
    • Hold the power button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the power button to turn it back on.
  • Reset network settings by selecting Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings, including passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
  • iPhone only: If you continue to experience issues, consider turning off Wi-Fi and using the cellular data connection instead of Wi-Fi.
Additional Information If using a Wi-Fi router at home, refer to your user manual/documentation to assist you with some of these suggestions.
  • Check the manufacturer's website for your Wi-Fi router for firmware or software updates.
  • Verify the Wi-Fi router can broadcast an 802.11b/g signal. If using a 802.11n Wi-Fi router, consult the manual/documentation for how to configure the Wi-Fi router for 802.11b/g compatibility.
  • If you are using multiple WEP keys on your Wi-Fi router, try configuring your Wi-Fi router to use only a single WEP key.
  • Try or resetting (or turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router. Note: If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
  • Disable wireless encryption or security on the Wi-Fi router to rule out encryption issues. If this resolves the issue, try using a different encryption or security protocol.

Connecting to internet

you connect the internet if your broadband router is wi-fi enable. so if you turn on wi-fi on your laptop and you get the signal. than you can access the internet on the laptop too. But for this your router should be wi-fi enable and DHCP must be set properly with in the router. so if you can access the router from your desktop by opening it in browser e.g. http://192.168.1.1 and default login id and password e.g admin you can check the status inside it. I hope this will help you in solving your problem.
