I have an Acer X223W, I need to pack it back in the original box. How do I take the stand off so it fits? Thank you!

If I am not mistaken this model has a screw on the bottom of the stand that secures the stand to the monitor.

What you need to do is to flip up the ring that is connected to the screw and then turn the screw in the anti-clockwise direction. Which will loosen the screw and allow you to remove the stand.

Take care!

Taking stand off screen

The base can be removed by pressing the tab on the back of the stand. I do not think that the actual "neck" of the stand can be removed.
I found a manual here (has a few helpful diagrams): http://www.retrevo.com/support/Acer-X223W-Monitors-manual/id/23224ci553/t/2/

I need to remove the base of my Acer AL2216W monitor to send it out for repair, but I don't see how to remove it. Does the stand unsnap from the bottom ledge of the monitor, or does the "tongue"...

You need to remove the hinge plastic cover to get to the mountung screws.
Download the service manual here:

How do I take apart Acer AL1715 LCD Monitor

You do have to remove stand (the stand hinges are covered by the plastic pieces that you just pop them out) and all the screws. Start at the bottom to crack open the case. See AL1716 (almost the same as 1715):

I'm attempting to repack my AL2216W LCD Monitor into the original box. When I slide the two foam protectors on the ends, it won't fit into the box. The stand is in the way no matter how I position the foam...

Of course there is a trick to this. Remove the stand by pushing gently on the clip at the bottom. I usually turn it upside down to do this. Then lay the stand on top side of the foam.
Please rate this answer as the only thing I get for answers is a rating.

Acer Monitor Stand removal

On the rear of the monitor stand, just 1/2" above the word "Acer", is a rectangular button. push it in and pull the stand off . If you need to remove the rectangular tube, there are two snap on covers, one on each side of the tube. Pop them off and remove the screws underneath. That's it.

Removing the mounting stand

You've probably worked it out by now, but I thought I'd post the answer anyway, for anybody who may come looking in the future......

If you look at the back of the monitor you'll see two screws which can be easily removed. What's not as obvious is the THIRD screw. To get at it you need to remove the top plastic section of the stand; I carefully inserted a blade screwdriver in the groove, then gently twisted it in a few places. There's no need to dismantle the rest of the base.

It was my 12 year-old son's eagle eyes which spotted that third screw. My contribution to this part of his MAME project was figuring out how to get at it.

I hope that helps someone.

How do I remove the stand?

Looking at the manual

http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/forms/portal20.cfm?recordid=761&formid=3425&website=AcerPanAm.com/au&siteid=8116&words=all&keywords=&areaid=12

It doesn't appear to accept a standard VESA mount to enable mounting on anything other than the supplied stand.
