My new laptop doesn't work

To connectyour computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh networklist, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connectto your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Keybefore allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This NetworkKey is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used toconfigure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way tosetup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrasethat was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router.http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_addressFor information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in thelaptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Wireless security settings on laptop do not match network settings

You will need to change the existing connection to match the "new" settings. I have had this issue with visita as well. If you open the wireless connections, go to advanced settings click on the "saved" SSIDs you can either delete the exisiting one, and start over (easy) or you can modify the settings to match the "new" upgraded system. Visita and XP store these for future use, problem is if one changes it "Doesn't match" so just delete the existing one and recreate it.

If they changed the password for the system or the type of encryption WEP to WPA etc this will correct the issue.
You may want to turn off the IPv6 which can also cause issues with Wifi in some locations.

My wireless network connection disconnected. When I tried to reconnect (I have a secure wireless router connection), my network name wasn't listed in the list of options. I restarted my router and...

1. Directly connect to the router with an ethernet cable from your PC.
2. On the browser, enter the router's IP address
3. Log into the router
4. Navigate to router's wireless setup
5. Change the SSID to something NEW and DISTINCTIVE - do not use a default SSID
6. Make sure SSID is being broadcast - click to set the check-box if it wasn't set before
7. Save and exit the router setup then disconnect the ethernet cable
8. On your PC, View Wireless Network Connections
9. Click Network Task to Refresh network list
10. Your router with new SSID should show on the refreshed network list
11. High light your router's new SSID and click the Connect button
12. On the pop-up requesting WEP or WPA key, enter the key you had set in the router before.

Router password is the password to access the router settings.

I lost my passkey to my AT&T 2wire router. i just got a new laptop that i want to connect to the internet, but i set my network up as secured.

First connect your laptop hardwired to your router. Now access the web-based configuration of the router by entering its IP address in your web browser. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. Login by entering your username and password. The default username is "admin" and the password is blank. Click the WIRELESS link from the menu options on the left side of the configuration page. For the Security settings, choose Shared Key Click the radio button to turn WEP On Enter 10 digit number in the key. That will be your new Key for secured network Click the Apply button to save your setting and reboot the router Remove the cable between router and laptop. Now search for the wireless network and connect with new key.

I have wireless router and my laptop will no longer connect to the internet. The computer says wireless networks are available, but when I try to connect it asks me for my security key or passphrase. It's...

Maybe provide the brand of router.. Anyway, I have lost my details as well, several times over the last couple of years.. It's just a case of accessing the router (via web browser, using the correct IP address for your brand of router).. Then you can delete the existing network & add a complete new one. You get to use a new key & passphrase. If you need further help, please provide your router brand & model. Rgds, dave
