I have an HP Officejet J6480 All-in-One printer. When I place the papers onto the printer to automatically feed into the printer to scan and push the Start Scan button it will not scan the documents. On the display screen it shows No Scan Options. Refer to devise documentation to troubleshoot. I cannot find anything that shows troubleshooting for the scanner just the fax.

Hi

I have provided the troubleshooting doc, please follow this to resolve the issue.

Solution:

Follow these steps in the order presented to resolve the issue.

Step one: Verify that the Digital Imaging Monitor is ready

The Digital Imaging Monitor must be running in order for the Scan To function to work. The Digital Imaging Monitor icon normally appears in the system tray at the lower-right corner of the computer screen, and the monitor is ready when a check mark appears on the icon after Startup is complete.

If the Digital Imaging Monitor is in the system tray, proceed to Step two.

If the Digital Imaging Monitor does not appear in the system tray, follow these steps.
Windows 98, Me, and XP

1.Click Start , and then click Run .
2.In the Open text box, type msconfig .
3.Click OK .
4.In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab.
5.Search the list for HP Digital Imaging Monitor .
6.If HP Digital Imaging Monitor is not on the list, the driver was not correctly installed or a custom install was used. 7.Proceed to step three to uninstall and reinstall the software.
8.Select the HP Digital Imaging Monitor check box.
9.Click Apply , and then click Close .
10.Click Yes to restart.

Windows Vista

1.Click Start .
2.In the Start Search text box, type msconfig and press Enter .
3.On the User Account Control window, click Continue . The System Configuration Utility window displays.
4.Click the Startup tab.

Step two: Populate the destination list

1.The destination list must be populated in order for the Scan To function to work. Follow these steps to populate the destination list.
2.Open the HP Solution Center. Use one of the following methods to open the HP Solution Center.
3.On the Windows desktop, double-click the HP Solution Center icon.
4.On the taskbar, click Start , Programs , or All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
5.If more than one HP device is installed, click the tab for the All-in-One product. The HP Solution Center shows only the functions, settings, and support options that are appropriate for the selected HP product.
6.Click Settings .
7.Click Scan Settings and Preferences .
8.Click Scan to... Setup .
9.Click the Destination List tab.

NOTE: Depending on the computer performance, it can take several minutes for the Front Panel Destination List to populate after the printer or computer is turned on.

10.If the Front Panel Destination List is empty, continue with this procedure.
11.If the Front Panel Destination List contains valid scan destinations, proceed to step three to uninstall and reinstall the software.
12.Click each program to include on the Scan To list.
13.Click the Add arrow.
14.Click OK .
15.Scan a document using the Scan To button on the front panel.
16.If the scan fails, try to scan using the HP Solution Center Scan button.
17.If the scan still fails, proceed to Step three to uninstall and reinstall the software.

Step three: Uninstall and reinstall the software

1.Insert the software CD into the CD-ROM drive of the computer. The software installer should automatically start.
2.If the software installer does not automatically start, complete the following steps.
3.Click Start , and then click Run .
4.In the Open text box, type X:\setup , where X is the letter of the CD-ROM drive.
5.Click OK .
6.On the installer screen, click Uninstall . If there is no Uninstall option, the software installation is incomplete.
7.Insert the software CD into the CD-ROM drive of the computer. The software installer should automatically start.
8.If the model supports custom install, install HP Imaging Device Functions to scan from the printer. The recommended install will install this feature automatically. It must be manually selected during a custom install.
9.Follow the onscreen instructions until the printer software is completely installed.
10.After successful installation, scan a document.

Step four: Service the product

If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.

Thanks
Riz

How do i get my hp officejet j6480 all in one scan both sides and print

To automatically scan and print, you need to use the automatic document feeder (for letter-sized documents) and have the HP Automatic Two-sided Printing Accessory installed.

Then to use the duplex printing feature, you need to set the printer properties to use the duplex feature. In Windows, open a document to print then click on File Print. Choose Setup and then Properties or Preferences (depending on your OS). Then click on the Features tab and set Two-sided Printing to Automatic. (This is a drop-down menu on the Features tab.)

You also need to set the scan settings for two-sided in the HP Solution Center. (If you just want to copy the document, you can set this from the Control Panel on the J4680.)

If you want to do this manually, you can scan each side of the pages. Then print them one page at a time. Then when the ink is dry, put the page back into the paper tray. (Note: this could result in paper jams.) The printer prints on the underside of each page put into the paper tray with the top of the page printing on the forward part of the page.

I hope this helps.

Hp j6480 printer wont print keeps sending a paper mismatch message

Paper mismatch errors occur because the product scans the width of the envelope before printing. If the paper size setting in the printer driver does not match the paper actually loaded in the product, the product reports a 'Paper Mismatch' error. The message saves paper and ink by preventing print jobs from accidentally printing on the wrong paper. For example, the print job might be for a 101.6 x 152.4 mm (4 x 6 inch) photo, but there is letter-size paper loaded in the product. The error message displays to make sure that ink is not wasted on the wrong paper type. try this out , disable the automatic paper type sensor.
  1. Open the Print dialog box.
    1. In Word 2003, click File , and then click Print
    2. In Word 2007, click the Office button (c01850900.gif ), and then click Print .
  2. Make sure that your product is in the Name drop-down list box, and then clickProperties .
  3. Click the Features or Paper/Quality tab.
  4. In the Paper type drop-down list, click Plain paper .
  5. Click OK to close the Properties dialog box.
  6. Click OK again to print the current print job.
