Hello, I have a KP-46wt500, during the last week the diplay has been getting more and more red until finally I saw nothing but a red screen. I turned off the set and turned back on, the red color disapated slightly but it is still a very red screen, color adjustments do nothing. Any suggestions as to the cause/fix
I have the same problem. Researching a replacement lamp. After 5 years the lapms expire and it is the most likely failure. Confirm with a local service person using the Sony website to locate a service center.
Replacent in not difficult but the bulbs are >$200. Cheaper than a new TV.

Hello. During this procedure DO NOT touch anything else than whatever I mention here! You can get serious injury due electric shock! You have to wait for TV to warm up and get worse blue hue you can get. Than remove front grill and behind it locate center shielding piece that also have to be removed. It held in place by 4-5 screws. Behind that "shield" you can locate "black box" size smaller than pack of cigarettes made out of plastic. It has 6 rotary buttons. 3 of them are" focus " and another 3 in the row are "screen". They all marked - take you time to study them with magnifier glass and flashlight if necessary! Locate one with letter "B" in "Screen" row . Others for green and red. You have to slow and carefully turn it counterclockwise using matching Philips screwdriver until blue is in balance with other colors. Put everything back and enjoy your TV! Regards. Russ.
Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news but besides the convergence issues you have a bad red picture tube. Us techs refer to your problem as a 'floating grid' in the red picture tube. More bad news is that the tube is no longer availible. The only solution is to have a professional remove the red tube assembly and ship it off for rebuild. A company called Video Display does this work reasonably and I've sent several to them with great results. It takes about three weeks and the whole repair is very spendy, around $400 to $500. Sorry for the bad news.
all three guns red blue and green should be replaced and the flote.
cost could be from $400 to 680 in parts depending on wer you buy them. I would but the parts my self then pay the repairmen to do the install this way you dont get priced up to high in parts cost.

if you take the front cover off the tv, you will see 6 little nobe, the top 3 are focus, bottom 3 are brightness, should be RED-BLUE-GREEN in order from left to right, find the one that is blue, turn it down a quarter turn, should fix the problem
