Err 99 message on canon 450d

CANON ERROR 99 1. Turn off the camera. 2. Remove the lens, battery, and CF card. 3. Allow the camera to sit without power for approximately 20 minutes. 4. Insert a fully charged battery, and turn on the camera. 5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture. Does the "ERR 99' message appear? If it does, then the camera should be serviced. If it does not, then please proceed to the next set of steps: 1. Turn off the camera. 2. Insert the CF card. 3. Turn on the camera. 4. Format the CF card in the camera. 5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture. Does the "ERR 99' message appear? If so, then the CF card is the most likely source of the issue. Try using a different card. If the message does not appear, please complete the following steps: 1. Turn off the camera. 2. Clean the lens contacts by gently rubbing them with a pencil eraser or soft cloth. Be careful that you do not let any debris fall into the camera body. 3. Reattach your lens. 4. Turn on the camera. 5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture. If the "ERR 99' message only appears when one particular lens is attached, then that lens should be examined by a service technician. If you see the "ERR 99' with a different Canon lens attached, then the camera should be serviced. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkXyLieNUDI - - - - - VIDEO & VOICE INSTRUSTION. Error 99

Error 99 found what can i do

Heres the fix clean the lens connectors with an eraser (on pencil). make sure the lens connectors are pointing down to avoid dirt and dust being dropped into the mechanism. Same with connectors inside camera Point camera opening at floor. Blow out well after to ensure no rubber shavings are in the camera. Reconnect and turn on it should now stop reporting that error

Error 99 appears when I use the canon EOS 350D

I think I answered this earlier did you ask this question more tan once?

well here you are a simple fix from experience.

The guy at Canon tech support listened to my woes and then told me that the lens contacts were dirty and to get a pencil with an eraser on the end, just a regular old pencil with a red rubber eraser. Detach the lens from the camera, hold it so that the lens’ gold contacts are pointing down and lightly erase their exposed surface, cleaning them of any hand oil that might have gotten on them. Do the same thing with the gold contacts inside the camera body. This is a bit harder but it’s doable: just hold camera so lens opening points down so no gunk falls in. Erase lightly. I used a lens cloth and dabbed at the contacts rather than blow them so as not to blow the erasings inside the camera.
I did this to each of my three lenses just to be sure. Lo and behold, it worked (so far anyway). I’ve shot numerous pictures with each lens and have not gotten a single error 99 message.

Error 99 appears in pattern, every time

Not sure about the pattern of errors, but the advice for error 99 diagnosis is to try the following diagnosis steps to isolate the cause of the issue:-
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Remove the lens, battery, and CF card.
3. Allow the camera to sit without power for approximately 20 minutes.
4. Insert only a fully charged battery, and turn on the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.

Does the “ERR 99" message appear? If so, the camera may be faulty and requires a service. If it does not, then: -
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Insert the CF card.
3. Turn on the camera.
4. Format the CF card in the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.

Does the “ERR 99" message appear? If so, then the CF card is faulty. Try a different card. If the message does not appear: -
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Clean the gold contacts on the lens by GENTLY rubbing them with a pencil eraser or soft cloth. Keeping the camera face pointing down, also clean the gold contacts on the camera, being careful that you do not let any debris fall into the camera body.
3. Reattach your lens.
4. Turn on the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.

If the “ERR 99" message only appears when one particular lens is attached, then that lens should be examined by a service technician.
If you see the “ERR 99" with a different Canon lens attached, then the camera is faulty and should be serviced.

ERROR 99

if you have a DSLR and your'e getting this "error 99" it may be associated with the particular lens youre using. try turning off the camera and removing the battery, the lens, and the memory card. let it sit for half an hour. reinsert the battery only and depress the shutter button as if you were to take a normal picture. if error 99 occurs again, then the camera needs servicing. if it error 99 doesn't occur at this point, turn the camera off and install the memory card. format the memory card while it's in the camera and press the shutter button as if youw ere to take a normal picture again. if you see error 99, then the problem probably lies with the memory card. if it doesn't occur, turn off the camera and install the lens. again, power on the camera and press the shutter as if you are taking a normal picture. if the error occurs, then it's with the lens. try to clean the lens including the connection points both on the camera and the lens. if the error code still occurs, try different lens to narrow it down to which particular lens is giving the issue. if it happends with all the lens, then the camera needs to be serviced.

I have error 99 in my camera canon 400d

Error 99 is a general fatal error.
which includes the problems above mentioned by Q4SteveB but also many others.

It can be caused by a dicky shutter, problems with the CF card interface.

If cleaning and trying a different lens has not worked. Not definitive but as a rule of thumb...
If it letting you take one picture then giving error 99.. and the picture is saved to the card (but may just be black) this is most likely the shutter needs replacing..

If it takes a picture and gives error 99 but there is no picture on the card or the picture is 0KB its a CF interface problem.

If you get an error 99 when you plug in the USB its a USB interface error, you can try a different cable but unfortunately in most cases if another lens or cable wont work it needs repair
