Suddenly no sound

Do you have a Volume icon (little speaker) in the system tray by the clock? If not, reinstall the soundcard drivers. If you do, open up the sound app and see if it is muted somehow.

Can't play AUX inputs through Panasonic surround sound

Check the TV audio output setting. There may be 3 settings for audio output. Fixed/variable/none. Try all of the settings, and see if you get your audio back. If not, try a different cable between the TV and DVD player. I suspect this is a red/white RCA audio cable.
