Kenmore Elite Refrigerator - three door / bottom freezer (Model # 79575549401) About three months ago it went 'beep-bee' and then the display on the door went to all 8s. None of the buttons, for changing the temp or resetting the water filter, etc did anything. We switched the breaker for the frig / kitchen off and on again, and the display reset. Before we thought to do this we left it with the error message, and noticed the temperature inside was dropping very low very quickly. All seemed ok after breaker reset, then did it again a few days later. We had the tech out, who had no idea what it was and quoted us $400-600 to replace the 'brain' or that it may be a short somewhere in the door with the display/ice maker unit (also saying that he would also have to remove the face plate on the door and it WOULD be damaged when he tore it out of the door- no other way to fix). We could not do that. We had then thought it might be a short in the door switch/button. We replaced the one for the left door, which seems to be the trigger when it happens, and all seemed good for the last 4-5 days, then it did it again. This time, after pushing on the door button a couple of times, I got Error Message '22'. I have reset with the breaker at this point, again. Help! Any ideas?? Suggestions???

I had this problem also. My problem was that the drainage tube that keeps the refrigerator compartment dry was plugged up with the foil backing used in the freezer compartment. This foil backing is used to line the closed cell foam which insulates the defrost heat fins from coming in contact with the plastic back panel. It took a service call from a local repairman two times to unplug the line. We peeled off the foil lining which was the source of the plug.
This solution stopped the "door open"/"instant freeze" cycle sound. My fridge is about 6 years old.
We have a kenmore elite refrigerator modle number- 795 7756,7757 and it has been making a humming noise very constant now after two weeks, what could it be?
Er-FS error code: Failure of freezer sensor. I have been finding the fuseable link in the defrost system on these models open preventing the defrost cycle. This would involve removing the freezer back panel and removing the sensor and fuse from the evaporator. It's just a plug in.

This is usually due to an air leak at the freezer door/drawer. Check out the gasket and if it is bad, out of place replace it. If the gasket looks good go around the door with a dollar bill closing the bill in the door. The dollar bill should resist being pulled out. If you find spots where the bill slips out easily this is a spot where the door/drawer is not sealing good and letting in air causing the frosting.
first, sears doesnt make any of their own appliances, but they do sell them, so you can be upset, but it is fixable. what is happening is the freezer fan is not running causing no cold air to circulate. the reason the door strip feels hot is it has a heater to prevent condensation and when the unit is cooling properly it will feel normal temps. check to see if you can hear the fan running in the freezer, if it is then you may have a defrost problem, but most likely you have a bad fan motor. remove the rear panel in the freezer and check the fan to see if it is turning. if not replace the motor.
this unit has a history of the light circuit failing and it will cause the lights to either stay on or off. if they stay on, it will melt the housing around the upper bulb area. it has a recall and should be covered by sears for no charge. it is the control board failure and has a sticking relay for the light circuit, needs board replaced. the 3 beeps are the unit thinking it has a door open. turn off the alarm on the door control board and call sears 800 # for repair.
