Your product should still be under warranty, (I believe most multi-tools are lifetime status) and warranty repairs are almost effortless. Hello. According to Gerber Blades, the correct way to remove and replace the battery would be to unscrew the end cap all the way. The battery will then fall away allowing for a new battery insertion. Hope this helps.
