How to back up photos on MacBook

I need an explanation of how to back-up or transfer  photos from iPhoto on my MacBook to my Verbatim SmartDisk FireliteModel #FWFL-160-N
I have tried copying photo events in iPhoto by selecting and copy key, then open the Firelite and use paste.  I can see the photos transfer but as soon as they are recorded on the Firelite they are erased and cannot be found.  The Firelite always asks if I want to replace, replace all or stop but whatever I choose makes no difference. No photos go over to Firelite. Yet a few months ago some did but I am unable to get any more to transfer.
Any help or suggestions are much appreciated.

From within iPhoto, try saving/exporting directly to the drive.

Aperture photography on mac note book

You should have iPhoto on your MacBook Pro. It will download your photos. Open iPhoto and check the preferences where you can select iPhoto to launch when you plug in your camera.

I am using Nikon Transfer on my Macbook Air with my Nikon D3100. The software on teh PC says, 151 photos selected and transfer successful however i cannot see any of the photos in the provided default...

Pictures are normally stored in:
~\Pictures
Option 1:
Nikon Transfer stores the pictures in a user selected folder. To fine it, look: http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/266/kw/Nikon%20Transfer
Option 2:
1. Remove Nikon Transfer 2. Have iPhoto import the images into the iPhoto library (~\Pictures)

I can't get my new MacBook to recognize and import photos.

Mac's don't need a driver to recognize the camera however they usually need a specific program for different brands of photos. You can also try opening up iPhoto as that will usually recognize the camera. If iPhoto doesn't work and you don't want to install a new program you can also get a card reader that'll connect via USB and will avoid needing any program to transfer photos.

How can i send pictures from windows photo gallery to verbatim?

When you connect the SmartDisk into the USB port of your computer, the computer will detect this as an external storage device. When you open this SmartDisk you can create folders to store your photos. Just select your photos from your computer where the photos are stored then copy and paste these photos into the folders on the SmastDisk.

Trying to scan a photo from my HP Photosmart 2575 to my Macbook

Hi,
You can't scan directly into iPhoto however the software that came with your HP scanner should have something that can. If you don't have the software you will need to download it from the much easier to navigate HP.com site. Once you have scanned them using HPScan you can transfer them into iPhoto by drag and drop from app to app or Finder to iPhoto.

All the best
