If someone has spilled water or pop around the buttons on the tv itself then the buttons may be sticking if it was just water then it should go back to normal after the water dries out.But if it is soda then you have to manually take it apart and wipe the motherboard where the tv buttons connect to it with rubbing alcohol. have you tried pushing the channel up and down buttons numerous times and sometimes pushing them pretty hard will unstick it. If not the i say it would have to be clean.I would also use the remote and fool around with menu buttons to see if there is a way to correct it that way.But if all else fails then the motherboard tv buttons have to be cleaned .Hope this little bit of knowledge helps at all.GOOD LUCK to you and good fortune be with you.

try disconnecting the button panel for tv functions and see if that stops it from changing channels. Could be a stuck button on that panel. If not, cover IR sensor on TV for remote as another check

Wont stop changing channels

Check and replace the main system memory IC. It is faulty. It is a very small IC, won't cost more. An eight solder terminal IC. Even though the physical size is small, function to it when the TV works is great. The work is a skilled one.

How can i stop the channels from changing?

if channels only scan up or only down suspect the manual button for this on the set is causing it---it may look perfect but the only way to know is to gain access to it and disable that one button.

Tv changes channels when turned on.

Be sure your remote hasn't got a button stuck down which is changing channels. If not, take the batteries out of the remote. If this stops the channel changing there is probably some conductve material stuck across the circuit board
inside the remote. If this is the case you have to check inside the remote by openning it up.

TV WILL NOT STOP CHANGING CHANNELS

Go and "hide" the remote from the set and see if that helps. Rare, but possible is a problem with the phase-lock loop circuit in the TV, or, encoder for that remote that you just hid....accordianman

Tv wont stop changing channels

ok, Sony had this issue on their early production. The problem you are having is called a leaky switch. The volume down switch on the TV is leaky. To fix this you must replace the switch. This part is called the switch block. Part number 1-473-549-21

Average cost $26
