Un screw the 2 hex screws from the back of the dryer where the cord goes in.

There will be 3 screws that connect the cord to the dryer, loosen or remove them to remove the 4 prong cord.

A hardware store will carry the 3 prong cord you need, tell them it is for a dryer.

Re-connect the 3 prong cord to the dryer.

Plug in and test after you have installed the new cord.

I have a Frigidaire FAFS4473LW Steam Washer- 3 prong. I moved into a new place with a 4 prong. Do I need a 4 prong cord, or can I change the 4 prong adapter on the wall?

Hi nancy huerta...

You can change the cord or the receptical...
It will be easier to change the cord...
Purchase a four prong plug cord that will fit into your receptical, then wire your dryer for 4 wire instead of three wire use.
To see a picture and explanation of how to wire your dryer for a 4 wire plug go to the following webpage.

Got a used dryer had a 4 prong my house is 3 prong, changed the 4 prong to 3 prong plugged in and wont turn on, what do i do?

There is a difference between how a 3 prong and a 4 prong power cord is installed. Please read the following link:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575913-installing_a_220_vac_appliance_cord

If you have the power cord installed correctly and still do not have power, please check for 220-240 VAC at the wall receptacle. If you require additional assistance, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Purchase a 3 prong dryer cord. It is simpler and safer than changing the wall outlet.

Frigidaire GLEQ2152ES Dryer Won't Power UP

IF you find that you have only a 3 wire feed for this dryer (and the reason for the 3 prong receptacle)...then you can not properly install a 4 prong dryer cord to it. You now have 2 choices....either rewire (assuming that it is a 3 wire supply) the entire run from the dryer breaker to the outlet location with 4 wire (typically a run of 8/3 with ground having a black, red, white and bare ground)and install a 4 prong dryer receptacle to match the configuration of the new dryers cord.....OR - you can remove the 4 wire cord and replace it with a 3 wire cord....re-using the ground strap - IF it is still in place.

I have a kenmore dryer model 11060212990, and the plug has three prongs, but the wall socket is a four prong. what do i need to do?

You will need to purchase a 4-prong power cord and convert the appliance to meet the needs of the wall receptacle. This is a requirement of the National Electric Code in homes that have the 4-prong receptacle. The following link explains how to convert your dryer cord from a 3-prong to a 4-prong:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r793520-3_prong_4_prong_power_cord_conversion

These rules apply to the conversion of electric ranges, as well. Read through the link thoroughly and let me know if you have questions. If you require additional assistance, please let me know before you rate the solution. I hope this helps you.
