Monitor Problem My screen seems to have stretched. I've got an Acer Aspire 5002WLMi. It used to give a regular, non-skewed display, but at the current resolution, the picture has been stretched length-wise and at other higher resolutions, the screen scrolls. I'm tired of looking at stretched pictures!

This is probably the result of using the wrong display driver. It may even be set for an external monitor. If it was used with an enternal monitor, connect it up to the same one (or something similar) and use the display settings to get the computer to use the LCD as the primary.

The picture on the screen is stretched to fit the wide screen and seems distorted. I can't find any settings for this acer monitor on my computer.

Try right click on the desktop and choose display or personalize, or a call close to do the display settings.

Acer Aspire 5002wlmi Monitor

You first should check to make sure it's the LCD and not the video/motherboard. However possible, hook the laptop up to an external monitor (flat panel or CRT, either one will work). If the problem doesn't present on the external monitor, you have a bad LCD.

If the problem persists even on the external, you have a video/motherboard problem. Since most laptops have integrated video, the motherboard will most likely be your culprit.

Hope this helps :)

Display

A really dim display like you're describing is most likely a backlight problem.  If your inverter went bad you wouldn't have any display at all.  you need to get your backlight changed.
