You most likely require a driver for your hard disk to be able to communicate with your computer. This driver may sometimes install when you connect your hard drive to your computer or the drivers may come in a CD with your hard drive. Please check whether you have a CD with the drivers that came with your hard drive. If not please comment

I have the same problem too on my 2big form lacie . If I use 2x 1,5 tera disk in "fast mode" or in "big mode" my disk manager only shows 746 gigs available (it should be at least 2,5 terra).
If I use "safe mode" so my system can see 1,3 tera available, wich is normal for a raid mirror configuration.
I hope to find a solution quickly.

Try pluging the device to another Pc to see if the device works

Did you check the MS hardware compatability list http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

you can always recover your files with the program undelete . exe

Have you installed the lacie network assistant?

Are you sure it is not a power problem? If the drive has an external power supply then then will not be the case, but if not, the USB port might not provide enough power.

You will need to format the device for Windows use. If you can see the device in My Computer, right click it and select format. if you can't see it in My Computer, you will need to use a boot tool such as Gparted: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php
Download the .iso file and burn it as an image to a cd, then boot from the CD at startup. It should detect the 500 Gb drive and allow you to format it to NTFS. Then Windows will recognize it.

i use my external hard disk many times but now when i connect my lacie external H.D to PC it dose not recognized

Contact Lacie support for a new power supply. I had the same problem, contacted Lacie support, they sent me a new power supply with power cord and all is well now.
