Lexmark Wheelwriter 1500 Typewriter Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jan 02, 2011

I have a Lexmark 1000 Personal Wheelwriter and the daisy wheel does not easily slide into place. It then just keeps turning until the machine beeps and it stops. Will not type of course. Is there a different daisy wheel for the Lexmark verses the IBM where the daisy wheel looks almost identical but it isn't?

No, the printwheels are the same for all Wheelwriters. Make sure the letters face the roller when you put it in (pull the print hammer assy back and check for paper clips, ribbon pieces, etc. first).

Testimonial: "Thanks, it helps to know it is not the incorrect daisy wheel, I tried two and they both had to me kind of forced into the slot. Did not see anything b"

Just a reminder that the hammer assy has to be pulled back to install the printwheel. Grab the black, grooved area and pull back against the spring tension before you try to put it in.

Thanks, I did, I used to sell these so I know a little, but the wheel is real tight going in. It's as thought teh actual metal slot got squashed or something, bent maybe? Not sure how this could have happened, thought it was a bad daisy wheel where the housing was not completely solid, but it is. Will check again, thanks for the extra hint.

Lube pulleys on the belt. You may need to lube the carriage return motor too.

Personal Wheelwriter, the daisy wheel spins the carrier spaces to the right then it beeps..it keeps doing this til lit hits the right margin. tried anothe print wheel, no change.

It's not completing the power on reset probably a board or power supply. If you have the ability remove the board and look for debris on and around it.

The cartrdge won't move

? Cartridge..Do you mean ribbon cartridge, print Wheel, or Printer Ass'y. Also check line space LED's for error codes. Clean the sensor located on the printer ass'y (located behind the print wheel) with air. Also (power off) make sure the printer ass'y can slide freeley (L-R-L)and no obstructions have fallen into it's path. There is also a printer home position sensor located on the far left bottom of the printer ass'y travel path. Also clean with air. Let me know if you have error codes.
