My Humminbird 788 ci screen clutters up and gives crazy depth readings when the trolling motor (mk terrpva80# w/ ipilot and built in td w/mkr-us2-8 cable) is set on mid to high speed settings. It does this most- but not all times...any ideas? thanks, Rob

I would use slip rings to tie existing cable to prop motor support shaft and mount transducer to motor housing. 'slip ring'--metal ring a little bigger than shaft with a nipple the size of the cable. it seizes up because their is a very hi draw on your battery when the motor is turning over, the starter draws so much power from the battery that it drops the voltage down below what the depth finder needs

Do you remove the trolling motor wires before charging..? ...If not.. try that......mine started taking a LONG time to charge.. after I remove the trolling motor cables.. it take less time and charges better!!!

If your depth is off because of where your transducer is located, calibration can be done through the menu by adding or subtracting a foot or two.  In your never to be read manual are all the instructions necessary.  If you are off by more than a foot or 2, chances are your transducer is bad.

Hey Chris,, you are starting a project (or wanting to) that is going to be problematic... It will be easier to go buy a new trolling motor with the money you are going to spend attempting this conversion... the newer trolling motors are so much more efficient...

I too have the exact same problem. .6 to 6ft then stays at .6. love to figure this out.

I havew a Minn Kota trolling motor on a Z21 Ranger. Minn Kota has a built in (puck type) transducer on the motor. I have a lowrance 135x on the front. The lowrance will read the temp but will blink the depth. I switched out the depth finder with another 135x with the same results. I have a 522c gps unit networked together and mounted on the console that works fine. Any suggestions on the problem with the 135x?
