You should be able to run an optical audio cable from the Verizon set-top-box to the optical audio in on the surround sound system

Panasonic TV does not play through surround speakers

so it is a connections problem I think. Check if video and audio cables are properly connected. Use color codes as your guide. Also from menu check if all settings are ok. Good luck

My surround sound will not work through the TV, only the DVD

If your tv and surround has an optical input/output.Then you can connect with an optical lead. This will then play the sound from whatever you are watching. You normaly select dig1 or input1 on the surround system.

Your LG tv should have an optical output socket,if your surround system has one as well,(input) then connect an optical lead from the tv to the system, then select either input 1 or opti 1(depending on your system) you will then get the sound from whatever you are watching on the tv

Now have verizon Fios and cannot get DVD player to play

Check the connection cable. If the Verizon box and the DVD player are connecting to the same TV input, ensure that the Verizon fios box is connecting to DVD input, and DVD output is connecting to TV.

If you connect DVD out to Verizon box input, and then TV , you will have to turn off the receiver box to see DVD.

If you use only one TV Input connect Verizon output to DVD input and DVD out to TV.

If instead you use separate inputs on TV, then try using the source/select input button on TV remote, and try different cables.

Regards.

Toshiba TV/VCR/DVD combo MW24F12

You did not say if you have connected the video out on the surround system to the video in on the tv. If not connect it and select that input on the tv.
