I am having trouble getting new fridge cool enough in fridge. Should it get below 40 f in fridge on mid setting of both freezer and fridge section

You need to check a few things -
1. settings for the temperature are not set too low. Not cold enough.
2 there is no leakage through the door seals.
3. there is not too much ice formed inside the freezer walls. Needs defrost.
4. the fridge is not overloaded with stuff - not enough capacity to cool things.
5. Not enough free space behind the fridge to allow air movement for coils to cool
Please provide more details of the problem if above not helping. For example model number, is the problem happening both in freezer and refrigerator settings. Get a fridge thermometer and monitor temperature in both sections. should be 4 deg C in fridge and -18 deg C in freezer after stable operation.

Is the fan blowing in the freezer section? Also, check to see if you have airflow thru the damper (vent) in the frig section.

Your refrigerator is not defrosting.

Its defrost problem, the freezer should cool, then freeze, then defrost cycle should start. In your case freezer is cooling, then freezing, but its not defrosting. That's why fridge section is not cooling.-------

The defrost board is not functioning properly.;

When the freezer section gets cold and reaches its required cooling temperature, after that the frost on freezer section starts defrosting and the cooling fan in the freezer section blows this cool air from freezer to fridge. But if the defrost cycle does not start then over ice will get collected on freezer ventilations and that will block the air passing section from freezer to fridge, so the freezer gets cool but fridge section does not cool.Try manual defrost by unplugging the refrigerator from main power outlet for 4 hours then reconnect it and check, if the same problem is noticed again,. If yes then its defrost board problem. The defrost board located in the back of fridge section. First thing- set the controls at the mid range of their settings. Next, check the coils under the fridge to see if they are clogged with dust, etc. Next, using a couple stem thermometers, determine the temps in the freezer and fresh food sections. In the fresh food section, place a tall glass of water on a shelf in the middle, put the thermometer in and let it set for awhile in the fridge. Inside the fresh food section, look for the damper opening at the top of the wall in between the two sections. Wet the back of your fingers- can you feel air blowing through the damper opening? Inside the freezer section, look at the back wall- any frost buildup there.

The freezer get the first crack at cooling and combination units have a fan and adjustable vents to steal some of the cooling capacity for the refrigerator. The vent are normally located in the back of the refrigerator compartment and with these, you can balance the cooling capacity between freezer and fridge. I recommend you swap your thermometer back and forth until you get the balance you want; typically the freezer should be at 5 degrees F or below and the fridge at 35-40 degrees F. Adjusting the control for temperature and having the vents set to supply the cold air you want in each compartment should give you the range you want in each.

Sir, To solve this problem, you must open the compressor area at the back bottom of the refrigerator and chek the temperature of the pressure line. If the temperature is between 55celcius to 60 than its ok. Or else you need to change the refrigerant. I suggest you to contact the service authority.

Cleaned the condenser coils which were dusty but not severely so. Checked the evaporator coils which were NOT iced. Reset the fridge to coldest setting and freezer to #5 (mid range of temperature) and waited a full 36 hours. Fridge temp is 40 F and freezer is about 0F. Not sure what is different except coldest setting on fridge. Warm weather is here but not warm enough to require AC. Temps in late afternoon in house about 77-80F. Any thoughts are appreciated because I suspect this problem is not completely resolved.

You said, your Trio won't make ice. Freezer stays at about 25 degrees regardless of control setting. Fridge maintains 40 degrees at mid setting. Shouldn't the freezer be close to zero? Is there a way to check the temperature sensor in the freezer?

To check the temperature you can buy a refrigerator thermometer at the hardware store.
Ask if it can be used in the freezer too!

The fridge sounds slightly to cold and the freezer not enough.
Fist look in your freezer and check if the articles there are full to the max and covering the air vents usually found in the rear of the freezer.If so clear an opening for the freezer to breath.
Refrigerators and freezers usually share the cold air and I've seen this be the problem on many occasions.
If freezer was not I blocking the vents or even full to the max.

Then pull the plug out or if you can not reach the plug, trip the breaker off for 5 minutes and see if this resets the system.BUT do not plug the fridge back in before at least 3 minutes.
