This may sound crazy. We have a coolpix (different model) that took awful pictures from the beginning. Sent it back to nikkon repair center and they said they had to order a new lens...after we got it back (about six weeks) there was no difference. I started looking through all the pictures we had taken before and after and it dawned on me that the distortion was always in the same area of the pictures. Center outward toward the lower left and the exposure was always too long washing out the total image. I took a real close look at the lens front and sure enough found a tiny spot near the center. I tried to wash it off with water, then mild soap with no luck. Feeling like I had nothing to lose I resorted to goof-off and the spot softened and came off. The camera now works great! I hope something like this has happened to you and this helps.

Olympus E-510 Flash & Auto-Focus Problems

Sounds like the main circuit board has got problems. If its under warranty use the manufacturer. But if not a camear store should be able to provide a quote. I admit that the repair will be about 150-180 because of the time involved in replacing the board and possibly the flash unit.
But quotes before bankruptcy..

Pictures are blurry

this is a symbol for a low light condition. Either increase the light by opening curtains using in-direct light or just use a flash.

Nikon D80 takes picture but wont set off flash

This could be a faulty unit.  Take it back to where you bought it and hopefully you are still under you warranty.

Vibration alert - blurry pictures

sigswr50,

The vibration alert flashes when the lighting conditions are poor and the flash is turned off. You can still take pictures in this mode and if teh camera is well stable, the pictures will be sharp. In low light conditions like indoors, turn on the flash or set the camera to Auto mode.

sigswr50 and xenolette
You need to let the autofocus time to focus. Press and HOLD the shutter button HALF WAY and wait for the white rectangle on the LCD display to turn green. Then press the button all the way down to take the picture.

Canon PowerShotSD200

Player, could you be more specific on the symptoms. Does the image also look blurry on the LCD. Any weird colors? And please reconfirm that you have a Canon SD200 (SD Card) and not an S200 (Compact Flash Card).
