I have a Pioneer PDP-R05FE 43'' TV. When I connect my PS3 to show Blue Ray films I get a flicker in the picture. It is connected using a good quality HDMI cable. There is no flicker when playing SD films or games. If I increase the playback speed to x1.12 the flicker disappears.

Go into your dispay menu and adjust the response 50-60hrz or if your tv is capped at 1080i then drop the ps3 to 720p and that will smooth it out alittle too as the interlaced picture is alittle choppy apposed to progressive picures and finally sometimes they just do it no rhyme or reason to it so dont go crazy about this ok :)
