I have model# 88202cop. The battery lost it's power and it wasn't replaced for some time, the battery corroided and the circuit board lost some of the green stuff. So I need to get a new "guts" of the clock. Is this possible for joe homeowner to replace and can I get the parts cheaply enough to make it worth while to fix the clock? thanks, Bill

SOURCE: time setting for skyscan model 88202cop

The clock sets itself, I have never touched mine, it just works, and unless you are sitting on a time zone, it should work. There is a set button in the back , I have never messed with it, It has an alarm on it too. Hope this helps.

You have to press the time zone button while holding down the small reset button with a pen, toothpick, etc.

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main digital board.

Craftsman belt drive garage door opener intermittent

My opener was flaky- intermittently going on and off. I could bang it and it would do the same thing so this suggested a loose connection somewhere. This wasn't a unit with the battery backup.

Safety note- don't take apart unless you first unplug the entire unit!!! I took it apart and there were two circuit boards- a logic board and a power supply board (latter was smaller of the two). I took out the power supply board and examined the solder joints on the back. I found one that was cracked (this soldered a connector pin), and another that looked like it wasn't good (not shiny). I resoldered and this fixed the problem.

Another time my wall control acted up (this has the IR sensor and buttons). There is not much room around the screws on the backside for connecting the wires. One of the wires was a little long and shorting out to a nearby component.

Hope this helps someone with similar problems.

Proton Model RS-420 clock radio lost power back-up

The battery is located on the display circuit board at the front of the unit. It's a bit of a pain to get to.

You'll need to open the case, unplugging the wiring harness plugs so you can take the two halves apart. Next, remove the strip of circuit board at the top where the snooze/alarm and other top button switches are. Then you will be able to get to all of the screws holding the display circuit board to the front of the case. The battery is soldered to the board. I'm not sure what type or voltage it is, but it's probably a single-cell NiCd at 1.2v. I think the best replacement would be a supercapacitor but I need to figure out exactly what the battery is first.

It's a great radio that's worth fixing. If anyone can tell us what the battery is, please post! Mine says "860" on it.

Cheers,

- Phil
