It is possible that the Xbox will be unable to pick up the wireless signal being transmitted by your gateway because the signal is too weak.
The connection speed of your internet has nothing to do with the strength of the signal. The best way to test this would be to try to connect to your wireless internet on a laptop while sitting near the xbox. If you cannot, you will know that the signal isn't powerful enough to reach that location.
There are three common options to amplifying your signal if necessary.
1) Purchase a High-gain antenna for your wireless gateway 2) Purchase a wireless repeater 3) Purchase a new router/gateway with a longer range capability. A "Wireless N" enabled router would be optimal for this application.
If other devices can connect once your son is off then it might not be a problem with a router. Try connecting the xbox VIA WI-FI. If the problem persits i would contact your ISP.
if you want to use the wireless internet you need to purchase a wireless adapter, which will run you about $100 i believe, the cheaper route is to buy a really long eathernet cord and connect it to your router, and the back of your xbox, if you want to play games online you will have to buy an xboxlive gold membership, 3 months of which costs about 20 bucks, and a year of which costs about 50 bucks
Had the same problem connecting zyxel NGB334W to XBox 360. Other computers and devices would see the SSID but the XBox 360 would not. I had no luck talking to the techs at zyxel, they said it was incompatible with the wireless XBox device. Good news!!! This can be resolved. I went into the setup (192.168.1.1) / Wireless Lan / Advanced / Wireless Advanced Setup. Under the 802.11 mode set to 802.11b. Factory is 802.11b/g and this was not seen. Hope this helps you out.
You need to have the specific wireless adapter made for the Xbox 360. It runs about $100. Other wireless adapters (for some reason) will not work. I tried 6 different ones before I gave up and hard wired the Xbox 360.
wel your o2 router is basically ur internet so if that does not work i reccomend you switch to broadband and buy the wireless adaptor for the xbox 360 and use that if you dont no how to set that up send me an e-mail to [email protected] and i will walk you through it step by step till ur up and running AND PLZ RATE THIS FOR I WILL NEED YOUR VOTE TO CONTINUE HELPING OTHERS WIT THE SAME PROBLEM YOU ARE HAVING TANKS.
