After 3 years of perfect service, our toaster oven's door stop closing easily. After reading the internet and trying to contact Cuisinart for a solution I was stumped and frustrated. Someone on the internet mentioned using wd-40, but I didn't want the smell when I toasted! I try cleaning the metal arm that held the glass door using an alcohol pad and that actually helped a little! After thinking about something to lubricate the door are with that won't smell awful and hopefully won't catch fire -- I decided to try olive oil! I took a little, very little on a paper towel and rubbed the metal arm a few times -- It worked!!!!!!! The Door now closes with the greatest of ease! and doesn't smell awful when you toast, so far it has not caught fire. Give it a try! I love to give it 4 starts, but Cuisinart support didn't have a solution... I'm sure even if I suggest to them my fix that won't share the info, but use at your risk! I am certainly not responsible for any mishaps that may occur if try my fix, but worked for me.

Thank you, that totally fixed the door closing problem!!!! We have had this problem for quite some time and I had gone on this web-site months ago to find a solution. We had been tempted to toss the toaster but couldn't find another reliable brand with comparable size and features. Your post just got emailed to me and I am so glad it did.

The door spring came off of hamilton beach 31100

The door of the Hamilton Beach Model 03008 or similar toaster oven does not stay closed when the door return spring or the hook it connects to breaks. The repair is very simple and takes just a few minutes!
The door spring is about 1 inch long and connects to a small clip on the inside of the left side panel of the unit. To see the small clip and the door spring, you simply remove the left side panel of the toaster oven which is done by removing just one screw.
The mounting clip on the side panel for the door return spring is located about half way up the side panel near its front edge.
The other end of the spring (its bottom end) connects to a metal hook. If the spring is not connected on its bottom end then the wire hook is broken. This is a simple repair that only requires a few inches of metal wire.
The other end of the metal hook (its bottom end) is connected to the bottom of the door hinge where it inserts into a small hole in the left side mounting hinge of the door.
When the steel hook breaks on either end then the spring cannot function, so the door does not stay closed.
To fix this problem, you simply get a piece of steel wire that is about 1/16 inch thick and a few inches long.
Bend the wire to make a hook at one end that the spring will connect to.
Then insert the other end of the wire into the small hole on the left side mounting hinge of the door. Then bend the wire on the inside of the hole to make a U or hook so the wire stays mounted in the hole of the door hinge.
Then adjust the position of the bend on the other end of the metal wire so the spring will have good tension when it is attached to the hook and to the clip on the side panel.
To do this you make the U shaped bend on this end of the wire to be about 1/2 inch from the end of the open end of the spring when the top end of the spring is attached to the mounting clip on the side panel.
To attach the spring to the wire hook, first remove the spring from the mounting clip. Then hook the spring onto the hook (bend) you made at the top end of the wire, then just stretch the spring to connect it to the mounting clip. The door will now stay closed.

My KRUPS FBC2 glass door hinge is broken. We use a pan to keep door in place when using it so it doesn't fall down. Any ideas on how to fix it will be appreciated. I'm pretty handy with things but I just...

I just fixed the problem with my Krups FBC-212. The door would not stay closed because the spring that keeps it in the closed position was broken. I ordered another from one of the small appliances parts sites (about $7 plus shipping) and that fixed it. I will describe how to do it and how to avoid the mistake that made it much harder and longer than it should have.
Remove the black screws at the back side, the ones holding the external black metal case to the silver chassis. There are 9 of these on my oven.
Also remove the 3 screws holding the left-side foot on.
Now you can probably slide the metal case (previously held on by the 9 screws) out from under the black metal front frame on the left side, thereby exposing the broken spring.
If you cannot get it out from under the lip of the front frame, you can take off the right-hand foot, and if that is not enough, you can remove THREE of the 4 black screws just inside the door holding the front frame to the chassis. Do NOT remove the lower left one next to where the flat door hinge piece goes into oven (which was my mistake) because that screw holds a critical black plastic piece in place.
By now you will be able to slide the black case that covers the sides and top backward and outward enough to expose the broken spring. It will be obvious how to attach the new one.

Toaster oven

THERE IS A SAFETY MECHANISM ATTACHED TO THE DOOR THAT TURNS OFF THE OVEN WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOOR. INSIDE, BEHIND THE KNOBS THERE IS A SPRING THAT ATTACHES TO A WIRE THAT IS CONNECTED TO THE DOOR. WHEN THE DOOR OPENS THE WIRE RELEASES THE SAFETY MECHANISM AND THE OVEN SHUTS OFF. WHEN CLOSED THE WIRE PUSHES AGAINST THE MECHANISM AND THE OVEN WORKS. I WAS ABLE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO RECONNECT THIS FEATURE SO THAT THE OVEN WOULD WORK.

Door

On my toaster oven, sometimes the plate at the bottom of it would get stuck when shutting because the arms it uses to close it weren't very good.

I had to push it in with my hand to get it closed. (make sure it's cool)
