Tecumseh carb 631827. Took it apart, cleaned everything and re-assembled. The inlet needle will not let gas into the bowl. I took the needle out and the bowl filled up with gas. Why is the inlet needle not allowing gas into the bowl?

Hi I am Kelly, I realize this post is nearly 10 months old. I am answering it now because it appeared after I made another post. Hopefully the repair information can be used by others.

Using this link:

Item 31 (spring Clip) is what is used to lift or lower the float needle. If the spring clip was bent or installed so that the spring was on top of the float needle head vs cliped to the recessed area of the float needle you will have the symtom you described. Usually you do NOT have to bend the spring clip to install it correctly. However, if it was bent during installation you will have to shorten the distance of of the spring clip horse shoe fold so that it lowers the float needle when the float is lowered.
See the picture on page 40 of this manual for the correct spring clip installation view: http://www.mymowerparts.com/pdf/Tecumseh_Service_and_Repair_Manuals/TECUMSEH_CARBURETOR_TROUBLESHOOTING_AND_IDENTIFICATION_GUIDE.pdf

One other thing to consider is that if the float needle seat is not pressed all the way into thebody you will have the symptom you described.... i.e no fuel flow with float in the lowered position.

Good luck,
Kelly

Huaya carb no gas in bowl

the needle has to fall down and follow the float movement
if it doesn't it is stuck on the seat and may need replacing as it has a small rubber section that may damage when pulled down

We have a 924056 ariens 10hp snowblower. It wasn't get gas to the spark plug and we took the carb apart and all is clean, clear and good. We are wondering if the governor is bad but cannot find any manuals...

Sounds like needle valve on carb. float sticking ,initial settings for tecumseh eng. is main jet , or the one on the bottom of bowl is 1 and 1/2 turns out after gently seating it . the low speed jet on the side is 1 turn out after gently seating it. may also want to check fuel filter and check vent on fuel cap. hope this helps

Power Washer Will Start but not Run

Hello.....sounds like you might have debris in your fuel as well..... need to take off the carb and gas tank....let the fuel from the gas tank (fuel line still attached) run into a jar and check for debris and/or water in the gas....is you see that, get rid of the gas in your mower and your gas can, then buy new gas and a gas can (if metal...could be rusted)....second....take the fuel bowl off the bottom of the carb, careful to save the gas to check for debris / water (this also helps indicate the quality of your gas)....clean the bowl nut with fuel ports (3) and the injector port inside the center post which the bowl nuts threads into.....use carb cleaner to make sure all is clean....use a small wire to assist cleaning if necessary....also remove the float and needle valve....careful to note the assembly to reassemble....and clean with carb cleaner the valve area as well....this will insure all debris is clear.....reassemble the carb and gas tank....this should clear up the problem....

Powermate 5000 leaks gas from the air filter..not sure how it's getting into the air filter?

My Coleman Generator 5000w with a Tecumseh 10hp story. Mine engine finally did die before I pulled the carburator off.
On mine the float was defective. It was full of fuel! I repaired the hole in it. I removed the air filter and saw fuel pouring out the side so much that I had a jar to catch it. I removed the carburator and took the nut off the bowl to examine the float. Then I removed the pin holding the hinged end of the float. Carefully pulled it out with the needle valve attached. When I removed the needle valve (just slides on mine) it was free to test. I tested by shaking it near my ear and I could hear the fuel inside the float. Mine was brass or copper. I wiped mine off with a napkin and finally found the hole. I drained the fuel by polking a needle sized hole and removed the fuel. I then soldered the hole shut with using just electronic 60/40 resin solder and a small soldering iron. Mine works like a champ now.

Snowblower wow's

tecumseh snow engines are natorious for not starting, first thing you need to do is take the old gas from the tank.gas only stays good for about 30 days.YEP .....that's all.there should be two screws that holds the cover over the carb.take the bowl off and there should be water and dirt in the bowl.clean that out,be careful not to drop the needle off the float.if you do it take a little patence to put it back on.now the nut you took off the bowl has three holes in the side of it.clean all the holes, one is really small and it's up twards the theads..replace the bowl gasket and reassemble the carb.now you should have fuel to the cylinder and it should start.if not let me know
