Soft Reset
A Soft Reset stops all active (or open) programs and "reboots" the handheld. When the Treo powers back up, you'll start with all programs closed and the unit will be ready to use. The soft reset is intended to reset the Treo if it is malfunctioning or has become bogged down.
The Palm Treo 750 can be soft reset by quickly pressing and releasing the tiny red button beneath the miniSD memory card door: Hard Reset
A Hard Reset wipes the internal memory and returns the Treo to its factory specs, in effect returning the Treo 750 to the state it was in when you purchased it. All data entered, preferences set or software installed on the Treo after purchase will be lost after a hard reset and will have to transferred or reinstalled via ActiveSync / Windows Mobile Device Center.
The Palm Treo 750 can be hard reset by pressing and holding the power button (seen left) while at the same time pressing and holding reset button beneath the miniSD memory card door. Press and hold the two buttons until the screen completely fades. When the screen returns, you'll be given the option to "Erase all data." Select Yes to complete the hard reset.
The Treo will now be as it was when it left the factory and you can start fresh. You may have to perform a soft reset after the hard reset to get the unit to power on.
It sounds like you have a faulty connection connecting the motherboard to the LCD. The alternative is a blown screen...but usually you can tell if it is a busted screen because it will have impact cracks through it.
The only way repairing this is to disassemble your phone to: A) repair the connection problem or B) replace the screen.
The symptom really does sound more like a connection problem than a damage problem. Sometimes, they come loose from impacts and can cause this problem. I've had it happen to mine several times...It needs some stickier tape holding the connector and cable together.
You will have to call your carrier that handles your acct. You will have to provide last 4 digits of your SS#, and some other info to get it opened. Their may be another way, but that's what I did. The reason for this is so if it is stolen, the scumbag cant reset it unless he know several personal details about the phones account.
Its about $40 US on ebay. Try searching treo 750wx screen/digitizer/touch screen, etc. Also i tried searching treo 750wx but it didn't work, I suspect the 750 to be the same as the wx, but you might wanna make sure with the seller incase (Ask seller a question link is on the listing, or click their username and go to their profile and click on contact)
if you are using Vista ultimate, it is a 64 bit operating system and therefore palm doesn't have official support for it yet, but someone has found a solution: http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/message?board.id=windows_hotsync&thread.id=17980
yes I have had mine less than 3 months - same problem
had the treo 650 for 3 years FAR superior phone
