Hi. My Samsung TV has suddenly developed brief loss of picture plus jerkiness. I have retuned and notice signal reception is ok but BIT error is in the red displaying a figure of 8. Can you help please? John

Try switching off and disconnecting from the mains for a few minutes and then reconnect and switch on. This causes the system to reboot and often cures the problem.
If it doesn't, perhaps there really is no signal because of an aerial fault or because the transmitter broke down.
Perhaps the stations moved. They did move around quite a bit here very recently and a retune was needed to restore reception of many channels.
Hi Fiona
Somewhere along the line from the aerial there must be a signal splitter that feeds the upstair and downstair terminals.
Try to find that splitter and switch the output to see if the problem goes from up to downstair.
If it does switch then you know the problem is with the splitter block, and if it stays the same then the problem is with the cable and/or the connectors that run downstairs.
Also the reason you get a pixellated(snowy) picture is because of signal loss during the length of the cable you ran downstair.
If running a cable downstair becomes the best option to fix your problem , then you could buy a cheap 10db signal booster/r.f amplifier to correct the signal loss and a cable splitter to feed both tv`s
That booster would be installed upstair in your case(near the source of the signal to be amplified).
I could send you a small diagram if need be.
Hope this will help and Merry Chrismas
If your aerial is slightly out of line with the transmitter it will skip some the first time around. I had the same problem and just retuned and they returned as normal.
HI,this might just help!...
1.press D.MENU on youre tv remote
2.scroll down to SYSTEM
3.access the RESET function
4 enter 0000
5 follow on screen instructions
TV will then wipe all existing channels and start from scratch.
worked a treat on my SAMSUNG LE26R7........However i noticed my signal strength dropped significantly!!...obviously them at the other end (digital tv boffins)have been mucking about,A bit of fiddling about with my existing arial did the trick!!
It Was Solved by removeing the unit from its present site and retuned unit to winter hill in a good signal area, when unit was returned to original site it was retuned again. and operated ok. as to what was the course i have not a clue, can only think that due to thie site being a fringe signal area may be the transmitter was on reduced power or something?
