I have a Maytag front load washer. Even though the door is properly closed, the display panel displays the message "door is still open, please close". I have even tried disconnecting the power for over an hour in an attempt to reset the machine. The model is MAF1300AAW.

Judging by your comments I suspect there is likely to be a problem with either the door solenoid/lock or the door closed' sensor requiring a service engineer's attention I suggest ;-0(

Error codes appear when there are problems with the door, the inflow and drainage of water and the motor.

Do
Your Maytag Neptune washer displays the "do" help code when the washing machine is trying to start a cycle, but the door is open or not locked properly. If this message is displayed, close the door securely and restart the washing cycle.

FL
The "FL" code indicates that the washing machine was unable to lock the door after you closed it. Open and close the door tightly, then restart the washing cycle.

Sd
The "Sd" code indicates that you have added too much detergent to the washing machine and your laundry has too many suds. The machine will stop displaying this code if it has successfully run the suds recovery cycle, which removes the excess suds from the wash load. od is an open door error if the door is closed then you would have to replace the door switch or the wiring that goes to the door switch first try to open and close the door and make sure it seats properly in the small hasp type holder if the error code still persists then check the wiring to the switch and if the wiring looks like everything is connected well then you would have to order a new door switch i hope this helps in your appliance situation and please remember to rank this solution if you have any more questions please message me back. Yes, OD is a open door error code. You may need a new door latch assembly. pn 22002262.

Not draining,throw rugs tend to clog this unit as do bobby pins and under wires I'm giving you a link to the repair manual it covers the 3000 through 5500 it will help you get the door open and the clothes out so you can start bailing...

Try these steps:

1.) Take the washer outside. 2.) Loosen the two screws on the back panel and remove the back panel. The pump sits on the left-side of the opening. There's a black water hose with a metal clamp; 3.) squeeze the metal clamp with your fingers until it's loose enough to slide away from the pump. 4.) Separate the hose from pump and the trapped water will pour out and the door will then open; and 5.) clear any blockage from the drain hose and the pump.

Replace the wax motor switch in the door.

open panel at rear of control panel usning phillips head and 5/16 the board attached to that panel will probably have a burnt r14 r1 or r21 resistor. this has been an ongoing problem with this model even a class action lawsuit.(lawsuit expired 9/2005) you can change the board but this will eventually happen again maytag directs you to do a full conversion kit rebuild about $400.
