I have attempted to reset my SBG900 multiple times now, because I need to reset all of the security things. However, every time I press a toothpick or pushpin into the reset button hole, the modem doesn't reset.
I was reading another solution on here about the SBG900 (http://www.fixya.com/support/t346868-wep_key), in which the person who answered describes what would happen to the lights when the modem is resetting. What happens when I attempt to reset mine, however, is that none of the lights go out. I hold the button for thirty seconds, and about three seconds after letting go, the lights finally start going off. The middle three stay lit for a few seconds, and then all of the lights go off. Then everything starts coming back on.
But even once this has all happened, the settings for my network have not changed. It still has the custom name I gave it and it still has the security settings that I am attempting to reset.
Does anyone have any idea how to get my modem to reset? Thanks for any help you can provide!!

And no need to get your breathing rates high in case you have changed the username/ password of Motorola SBG900 and forgot them, as you can just reset the Motorola SBG900 router by press-and-hold the reset button with a straightened paperclip for about 15 seconds.
Couple of things you can do....
In the User ID field, type admin (case sensitive) and press TAB.
In the Password field, type motorola (case sensitive) and click Log In to display the SBG900 Setup Program main window
If you are still having problems, try the following:
Press the reset button on the rear panel. Resetting may take 5 to 30 minutes
Try the login again, if that fail try from a different browser.
Try user as "admin" and passwords as "admin" or blank or "password" or "1234" then check.
If still not able to access then you need to RESET it.
For that press RESET button for 10 seconds reset button is in the back side of router.
Then check.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.
Page 7 on the document contains a picture of your modem's back side. You'll notice a recessed button that will RESET the modem back to the default values, which include username and password. Press this for at least 5 seconds.
You acn hard reset the device. there will be little pin hole. insert any pen or pin for 20 seconds. lights will flash and the device will be reset to the factory settings
Well, to avoid confusion, I'd start by doing a factory reset. Insert the straightened end of a paperclip into the reset hole and power up the device to do this. From there, the device should begin broadcasting the default wireless network with the name (SSID) of "Motorola." The DHCP server should also be enabled and if your computer is configured to receive an automatically assigned IP address your wireless network interface should pick up an IP. The security for the "Motorola" network is disabled by default.
Basic troubleshooting from there would be to try to see if you can connect your wireless computer to another wireless network that is know to be working well. Either buy and return another wireless access point or router from a retailer or head to a Starbucks or other establishment that offers free wireless. If the wireless computer is hooking up nicely with the secondary wireless network, you can refocus on the SBG900 as the likely source of the problem.
If after attempting the aforementioned procedures you find that the wireless computer continues to fail to connect to the SBG900 you might have to consider that you have a faulty device. At that point I would consider consulting the manufacturer's documentation.
Yep, I'm having the exact same problem, this f#%$$#%ng thing doesn't work!!
