You may indeed use your key. The key will push inward about 1/2in when it is in the correct position to turn the locking/unlocking mechanism, the keypad will be still active

Turn off key lock pad to my car

The process to turn off the key lock pad on your car will depend on the make and model of your vehicle. Here are some general steps that you can follow:
  1. Locate the key lock pad on your car. It is usually located on the driver's door or the trunk.
  2. Look for a small button or switch near the key lock pad. This button or switch is usually used to enable or disable the key lock pad.
  3. Press and hold the button or switch for a few seconds until the key lock pad light turns off. This indicates that the key lock pad is now disabled.
  4. Test the key lock pad to ensure that it is disabled. Try entering a code on the pad, and see if the door or trunk unlocks.
If you are unsure about how to turn off the key lock pad on your car, you can refer to the vehicle owner's manual or contact the manufacturer for assistance.

Our schlage lock with thumbturn on inside and keyed on outside. inside lock position AND outside keyhole are sideways. is this normal??

I've never seen a lock like that was intended to be that way, but have made that mistake when the shaft that goes through the bolt portion of the deadbolt is square and is 90 degrees off in the square hole it goes through. If so remove two screws on the inside and take out assembly with the key hole, position key hole bottom, then put key side assembly with shaft through bolt portion of lock. Test the key to see if it locks and unlocks, maybe you need to position shaft 90 degrees to left or right to work, then put cover on inside house and the two screws.

How do I change the battery on a winchester gun safe door?

Winchester uses several different brands of locks. You need to be more specific as to the lock that is on your safe. However, most batteries are contained in a housing on the under side of the code entry pad.

S&G batteries are usually removed by simply pulling slightly forward on the tab on the housing on the base of the lock. The housing will then drop down and you can change the battery.

Some locks will actually have the battery contained inside the code entry pad housing which can be removed by grasping the entire key pad housing and rotating the housing a few degrees counter clockwise, and then pulling the unit straight toward you.

Some locks may require you to remove a screw, but most do not.

A more specific description of which lock is installed in your safe will allow for a more specific answer. A picture also helps.

I lost the keys to my back door yale lock, how do I get another one?

Somehow your answer ended up in the Office Shredders problem area. I suggest you resubmit your answer to the correct problem area. When you do, clarify if the lock is installed in the door, in that case, either 1) remove the lock and take it to a locksmith to make a new key (It is expensive if they come to you) 2) Buy a new lock and hide a spare somewhere safe outside your house 3) If it is a pad lock, cut the lock and get a new one.

How do I lock the door with the key pad? I can unlock it fine but I can't get the door to lock. Don't have the manual. what buttons to I press?

Push the Lock button on outside touch pad to extend latch bolt 1" which locks the door when you leave.
Enter your desired personal code to retract the latch bolt completely which unlocks the door when you return home.
The T-turn on the inside of the door is used to extend (lock) or retract (unlock) the latch bolt when you are inside.
Using the key from the outside will also extend (lock) or retract (unlock) the latch bolt.
This Touchpad Electronic Deadbolt should be accompanied by a Kwikset Knobset, Leverset, or Handleset.

I cut & pasted the above from the installation instruction sheet.
Here is the link to the entire installation instructions sheet (manual):

It is a .PDF file, so if you aren't able to view it, download and install Adobe Reader from this site first:

If you are not able to lock the door using the outside touch pad's lock button, you may need to reprogram the door's "handedness", which gives the lockset the ability to be used on doors that have their hinges on either the right or left side of the door (right-hand or left-hand door).
The instructions for that are found on Step 4.9. This is also an excellent time to change the batteries, which is recommended yearly.

Good luck!

My key pad for my car is not working, my car is locked. Can you use the key to open it from the outside

Yes. even though most newer cars are equipped with "keyless entry", the good old standby of unlocking the door with a key still works.
