Model is Sylvania DVC 840G, DVD/CD player with VCR. Have limited space. VCR on seperate shelf in cabinet, had to put two TV converters on top of VCR (top each side) so we could watch TV and tape a different channel. No problems until about 6 months ago. VCR would somethings not rerewind and found out that is VCR tape is old, worn out, would replace tape and solve problem. However, now tape is fairly new-used about 1 month. Would start to rewind, then machine would half way eject tape and turn itself off. Tape was not fully ejected, To remove tape, we had to pull it out, and cut tape and pull tape out of machine.

if you can't get the tape out enough to pull it very carefully out by hand, you'll have to bring it to a repair shop. the tape is probably twisted up inside and jammed.

You need the aligniament the eject gears to tape gears.Please remove the cover platen and the rear cover(bottom) and align the gears manually.Obturated the sensors hole and insert the cassette.Verify the eject and the tape belts.If you have knowlwdge VCRs the problems solved in 1 hour.

Sounds like the guideposts need realignment to center the tracking or something got bent in the tape jam removal, check the tape path!. Also could try a take apart cleaning of the head with a piece of paper and some alcohol.

Your Magnavox Combo has mechanical problems in its VCR mechanism, which jams or not run properly. If the Casett tape doesn't run properly, the take up reel sensor inide it will sense this situation ans "Stop", or "End", and will automatically ejects it. If the mcchanism has some trouble with it, there are sensors to detect the trouble. and will stop it from preventing further damages ot the casette tape. It may be due to any motor trouble, shorted or opened low voltage regulators, ans so on. As it is a multi combo, there is no one sentence answer about the detection of this problem. We have to detach section by section to detect which section causes the overload to power supply. The wiring and schematics will be very complicated that you must have well experienced to do this job, otherwise total failure will be the result.
If you have enough awareness in electronics, and have some practical experience, and knoledge in this case, inform me, I'll assist you in this case. Soemtimes we are now thousands of miles apart. There will be a limitation for an online asistance you know.
