Make sure you have fresh batteries in the mouse and keyboard:

Plug your transmitter unit into an USB port,push the connect button on the TX, then push in on the connect button on the mouse and the keyboard. Also, install the cd that came with the KB/Mouse, to gain access to the features.

I have found that the Bluetooth adapter sometimes has trouble staying reliably connected through many types of desk material. Try getting a USB extension cable and relocating the bluetooth transciever closer to your keyboard/mouse work area.

It should be good up to 30 feet, whatever the setup. You might try plugging the send/receiver into a front port to see if that helps.

I usually open Device Manager, open each USB device and set the power to stay on, (not "turn off this device to save power"). That way, sleep mode won't cause you to lose contact with the mouse. Or just disable sleep mode.

You should connect the sensor connecting to PC visible to the cordless mouse so that there's no signal interuption. if you do this every is fine. or maybe u can bring the monitor near the 2 ft distance closer to you.
