Set camera on playback mode, you will see any saved picture in internal memory. Insert memory card and lcd screen will show you either blue screen if memory card has no picture files or will show you picture in memory card. That means memory card is intact with camera and ready to store fresh picture. Set camera to camera mode and take few fresh pictures and check them in playback mode. Whenever you switch on the camera the lense comes out to a certain places, stops and the camera is initialized to take the picture. In some cases when there is a friction in the movement of the lense, it does not comes out fully up to the proper position. so the camera mechanism draws it back and again pushes it out. this happens 3-4 times and if still the lense does not reaches its position it displays "turn the power off and on again" and the problem continues.
