Have a Sony KP53S65 Rear Projection TV... while watching, it made a pop sound... the picture shrank (faded) to a small circle of color in the middle of the screen and than disappeared to nothing. There is no picture and no sound. The standby light on the front does come on and it just blinks continuously. The tv has been unplugged for months... after plugging it back in on a few occasions, the results are the same. Trying to diagnose and to determine if it's worth trying to fix. The tv is in new looking condition... I like it and, if possible, would rather not replace it and my entire entertainment center right now. Thank you kindly for any insight you can offer.

Sounds like the convergence amp Ics are faulty they will distort the picture and you wont have any control over convergening the color back into alignment. Can you post a picture of what your screen looks like?

If there is no picture but sound is audible then replacing the projection lamp will do otherwise, the TV requires to be diagnosed for any other hardware damages.

Two blue dots on the screen

its sounds like the guns has burnt your yube, when switching of does your tv show a bright circle in the middel, or while watching. Smack your tv on the side while on see if the picture goes away or make a bright circle in the middel, this is caused by a bad solder joint but you wont get rid of the bunt pixels sorry.
