Power cord i have a toshiba a105 laptop. the power cord has stopped working and the computer shut down due to low batteries. is there anything i can do to power it up and back it up before it's to late.

If thelaptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

The DC jack in the computer has detached itself from the motherboard causing intermittent shutdowns, the laptop must be dis-assembled to re-solder the jack back in place, and may need to replace the DC jack if the old one is not suitable.

take out battery,unplug power cord while plugging back in hold down the zero key & power ,go 45 seconds, go into setup load bios default then save

Shut down the computer
Unplug the power cord
Take the battery out for a few minutes
Replace the battery and start the computer
Problem fixed
Plug in power cord

After 4 or 5 years, the battery will be too dead or old to take a charge. It needs to be replaced.

if fan is working well then it might have processor problem.

If you put strain on the jack (e.g. hang power adaptor from it whilst using or charging) then the socket on the mainboard can get hot due to poor contact and melt.

There is no way to fix this except to completely dismantle the laptop and fit a new socket - most likely a repair centre will charge you for a new mainboard.

Try another adaptor to see if that is the problem (broken wire in cord) - otherwise look closely at the socket in the notebook.

First u have to open it and dust then if problem continiuing then you have problem with power suply or ram memorie!!!

Try taking the battery out for 30 secs or so and then replacing it. You'll find a couple of locks on the bottom of the laptop that will release it.
