This error is related to several issues. I wish your problem is not with the Firmware. First of all try the following:

  • Turn the printer power off.
  • Power on the printer and watch for the memory count to begin.
  • Holds down the STOP button when you see the memory counts begin. Continue holding down the STOP button until all three printer control-panel lights flash once and then remain on. This might take up to 10 seconds.
  • Press the SELECT (Checkmark) button and then the MENU Button.
  • Scroll down until you see "Clear All RFU Errors".
  • Press the Select button twice until the highlighted cursor is the letter "C" in the word "Clear".
  • Scroll down until you see "Set Runmode to Manual".
  • Press the Select button once until the highlighted cursor is on the letter "R" in the word "Runmode".
  • Scroll down until you see "Set RFU Error Off".
  • Press the Select button twice until the highlighted cursor is on the letter "S" in the word "Set"
  • Turn the printer off and power up the printer.

If the error still persists, try re-seating all the cartridges and drum including the Fuser Unit. I would also recommend you to clean the printer using a Blower/Vacuum Cleaner (this is not compulsory, but as a remedial so that we can make sure it's not related to minor issues).

If there is a Ram or Memory installed, please check and clean the metallic contacts. If possible try with another Memory stick.

If nothing seems helpful, try the steps mentioned here (Click Here). You can download the same document as Html here (Click Here). It will open up in your browser.

Your last option is to Update the Firmware which is only possible and could be done by a professional..

Let me know if you need further help.

Good Luck.

Why is the control panel (display panel) blank on my HP LaserJet M3035xs mfp?

The display panel connection is probably loose. The wires could also be broken where they flex whenever the top cover is opened. These are difficult to take apart but you can usually find how-to videos on youtube.
