When lever on tub spout is pulled up for shower use some hot water still comes out of the tub spout...reducing water pressure and temperature of water coming out of the shower head... Tub spout does NOT leak in off position..

Because the valve between the spout and shower pipe is defective - you need a plumber. Or locate the valve, move it from full on to full off a number of times to loosen the corrosion and perhaps it will seal at the shower position. Generally the shower valve is a pull-up knob on top of the tub spout or a lever that turn, mounted near the hot / cold water controls.

Do you have water coming out of the tub spout and not the shower head? If so how does the water get directed to the shower head,is it by pulling up the diverter on the tub spout?If water is still coming out of the tub spout then the diverter is bad and the tub spout needs to be replaced.

I had the same problem. My building manager showed me that you have to yank the circular portion at the end the of spout where the water comes out downward and the water will be diverted to the showerhead.

Hello. At the bottom (spout) where the water comes out it have a pull button. Just pull it up and water should comes out trough the shower head. If water comes out without pressure and is partially comes from the bottom just replace the spout. (bottom part)

Is there a button on the tub filler? How about the spout on the tub, does it lift up? If there is not a tub spout then it should be shower only, if it has a tub spout it has to have a lifter of some sort, the foto I found showed the little button lifter. Hope this helps.

I would look into the spout being the issue. The spout is a bypass when the shower is on and yours seems to be letting water get through. I would replace the spout..

Sounds like it was installed upside down or the cartridge is installed improperly

Does the tub spout water flow stop when the shower knob is pulled?

Was the systems pipping flushed before the shower head was installed?

It may be clogged, remove the shower head and then attempt to operate. If it is clogged you will see debris trapped in the screen at its connection point. The shower head can be disassembled - cleaned - reassembled

Is the shower head an adjustable type, that may be in the off position?

You will need to either replace center "shower diverter"assembly or a quicker fix would be to remove old tub water fill spout and replace with a "pull up diverter knob" type water spout. Cost about 10 dollars Hdepot Pull Knob to divert water to shower when showering.

If it is dripping from the connection where it goes to the water spout you can unscrew the connection and wrap teflon tape or Pipe Joint Compound on the Threads. Now you can Thread the Shower Head Back on, with No Leak. IF..... It is leaking from the Shower Head Itself There May Be a Problem with the diverter handle/lever. If it has a Pull Type Lever, sometimes you can screw the Lever up or down for the proper water restriction to the Shower Head. However if the Hot and Cold Handle/Lever is OFF, There should not be any Water coming out from anywhere! If water is coming out off the Tub Spout, with the Shower Off, then you will have to replace some washers or Cartridges in the faucet(s) to stop the dripping. You can do this easily....Just Ask) Remember though, that some shower Heads may Drip for a Few Minutes After they are Turned off. There is still water in the Supply neck and needs to escape, either though the tub Spout or Shower Head.......Hope this Solution Helps you with your Drips.....Joe
